I read about this in another thread. Locally fitting leather seats, audio, alarm system etc is understandable. Are you sure Aircon also fitted locally? Thanks. Mosin Neutral Newbie January 30, 2009 Share January 30, 2009 68K for the 2.0X is a good buy. My friend is driving the 09' Forester...average FC is about 9-10km/L. I'm driving the 08' Forester....Avg FC is about 12km/L (based on RPM not above 3K, 70% highway and 30% city driving) Its a good SUV that you can look into it. No regret for me since first day....but on and off, i will ask myself why i didn't get the XT (Turbo) version....too bad, CO dun allowed me to spend too much on car...:( 12 km/l is good,, heard good f/b also on its handling... and boxer engine.. Lemonade78 Clutched January 30, 2009 Share January 30, 2009 (edited) Yup. its true and 101% confirm that 08' forester able to achieve 12km/L [ 2.0X (non-turbo)] For the 09' non turbo...it can achieve only 9-10km/L due to its larger chassis and higher CG. In a car forum....Only car owner who really owns a Subaru can give you real and true info of his/her ride.....no point hearing comments that are totally untrue from a non-subaru owner who also heard the info from other non-subaru owner..hohohoooo Edited January 30, 2009 by Lemonade78
Lemonade78 Clutched January 30, 2009 Share January 30, 2009 I dunno why ppl like to look at the narrow point of view. Or maybe they are plain naive. If you open shop and sell cars, dun tell me you sell the cars at a loss or thin profit margin. You are not selling toilet brush, hello? You are selling cars. Most of the brands mentioned are less popular and they have to priced their cars lower to more popular ones. If their car one day become as popular as today's, you think they will remain the prices unchanged? I support your say....if can't really afford a good Jap car and keep waiting for miracle to happen....then go for something cheaper or even look into a China made. Buzz Neutral Newbie February 3, 2009 Share February 3, 2009 think should not be too bad....current price ard 90k+ The JDM Forester XT is excellent, similar power to the 2.5L MI turbo version but much lower road tax and insurance but with the pricing now not worth at all. Not sure how you can achieve an FC of 12??? Especially with the traffic nowadays on the highway and roads... I think the 2.0X frostie bros in the scooby forum would be quite amazed at this feat... I managed 9.5 - 10, with 10.5 max... But however you have done it, keep it up.. Forester (before the 09 series) is a good "SUV" ride primarily because it is really not a full-pledged SUV. It is really a cross-over between a stationwagon and SUV and not forgetting the AWD. Bumps are not felt as strongly as compared to other models like vitara and crv. A reasonable purchase for someone who is looking for a first

Looks like my first tank after the 10K servicing can do slightly better than 12km/L Edited February 3, 2009 by Lemonade78
Beng2 5th Gear February 3, 2009 Share February 3, 2009 68k i would say still bloody expensive. OMV around 17K if i remember correctly. The AD margin easily >30k Yes, the OMV is very low. At 68k with such low COE premium, it's not worth it. Thanks Mate. I have yet to test drive Vitara yet but 59K is quite attractive. You need to know that the GV 2.0 is only available in 2WD. Might as go the whole hog and get the 2.4 4WD. I was surprised that the insurance premium for 1st year is lower than my current 1.6litre car, both by AIG. I understand they now throw in a 3yr, 60k km servicing free if you bargain hard. The 2.4 is around 74k, OMV > 22k. It has sunroof (but smaller than the Forester 2.5), keyless entry/start, ESP, 6 airbags, HID, 4WD Low (useful for serious off-roading). Much better value for money than the Ah Beng advertised Forester 2.0. If they had offered me more for my current ride, I'd have signed on the dotted line on the spot. ↡ Advertisement
