Opel17 6th Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 Somehow, those used car dealers would be able to handle such situation. Of course, they will buy at lower price from the seller. ↡ Advertisement
Rainman 1st Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 Yes indeed. Know of someone's friend who wanted to downpay 100k for his >250k car, loan was rejected as bank can only loan him 50k.... Bad bank record or not that I'm not sure....
Felipe 3rd Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 for the 2nd case, its just a case of bad timning. previously, late payment is not that bad. its more like those who owe and don't pay who are blacklisted. but i also think it's a case of loan amount too high. for the 1st case, the borrower should show income tax statement. 1.5k is not possible to own car of that loan amount

Yipsy1 Neutral Newbie January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 I was in one of the Leng Kee car showrooms last week. Even the sales guy agreed that the banks have been very stringent in their loan approval. He said one of his friends wanted to buy a Continental car at $150k. He was willing to pay $60k upfront. Effective loan $90k. The banks rejected his loan outright. Never even offer a smaller loan amount. Times are bad. I would rather put my money in stock market. Rickster 5th Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 (edited) My friend cannot even secure a loan for a 56K toyota axio when he downpay $20K. In the end he went to get a 2nd hand mz2 for 42K and only then, the bank can loan him the remaining 22K. He is 27yr old and his pay is around 4K btw. No housing loans, no study loans, no loans watsoever. Edited January 23, 2009 by Rickster
Hotisland Neutral Newbie January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 (edited) I also had a similar case. Not long ago I checked with one of the finance company and ask if I can borrow certain amount of money to buy a 2nd hand I was interested in and they said they I can be granted the loan within a day. Don't really bother how much I make. You know why? becuase the money I wanted to borrow is same as the paper value of the car and they feel 100% safe to loan the money out! Anyway, back to TS's topic, why I feel that the bankers are actually helping these 2 potential buyers? They will be better off not buying the call after all! Leepee 1st Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 Anyone can clarify this - What will the bank hold to determine that the particular car is pledge to this bank. Last time got physical log card, now all computerised. The log card is in the name of the registered owner, no matter if the car is under loan or not. - What is there to stop the car buyer to loan from two banks to buy the same car. Not out to cheat the bank, but to borrow 50%-50% from two banks to buy the car. Anyone got some simple answers?
Rickster 5th Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 darling, u study NUS till too stressed to think alrdy i guess... Remember, there is such a thing as contract?
Leepee 1st Gear January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 I KNOW there is a contract lah. But but but..... How will the second bank knows that there is already a contract on the car to another bank? Is the so called contract made known to the second bank or can be crosschecked by the second bank thru some LTA website? Nowadays, LTA will allow car transfer between two ICs, as long as the two ICs and tranfer fees are paid over the LTA counter! Does LTA check whether the car got loan and stop the transfer?(I don't think so)

Throttle2 Supersonic January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 you lucky he never throw fire at you, but with your insensitive and arrogant comments (typical elite) you can expect more. If you think i deserve fire from that forumer, then he probably deserves eternal hell for the vulgarities that he spewed on my family. one thing we should understand and embrace about posting in forums is that, we are faceless here and everyone will at one time or another say things that may make people feel good, bad or ugly. the thing is not to bear any grudges and be able to shrug it off because ultimately , we all have our own real lives to care more about. so Loneranger, think about it, maybe you want to stop stalking me and my posts just to point fingers at me being typically elitist and to perhaps stop acting like an underdog (read: peasant in your own lingo)? Let me state that , unless you have 3 hands , 15 fingers and can type a lot faster than me, we are equal in this forum albeit with different opinions about matters. Galantspeedz Turbocharged January 23, 2009 Share January 23, 2009 For old cars, only the original logcard will do and this logcard is held by your loan company which will be returned to you if the loan has been fully settled. For this current paperless system, if i rem correctly, the loan company has to 'release' thru the computer this car logcard only when loan is fully settled
