i guess i qualify as one of the fast cruiser types. am able to cruise comfortably at 210km/h (4000rpm in top gear and still tolerable noise levels) but am unable to maintain this speed for very long because of traffic. although msian drivers are very prompt to move out of the way once they see me in their mirrors, they do take a while to realise i'm closing in, and at that kind of speed i'm forced to slow down to give them time to see me behind them anyway. singaporean drivers imo have a lot to learn from the msians when it comes to highway etiquette. im sick of sg-plate idiots going 120kmh in the right lane, refusing to move over and jamming everyone up.

most of the time i stick to about 180kmh so that i dont have to brake then accelerate so often.

even in my car at the kind of speeds i travel, i do see some heros in souped up protons zooming past me from time to time. my adage is simple:anyone can overtake me, as long as he is going faster than me. doesnt matter what car you drive, i move over if you're faster.NSH crusing would be much more enjoyable if more pple did this

This is a disturbing sign. More that 50% of SG cars blatantly flout the speed limit rules while on NSHW and feels good about it or try to justify their action. [thumbsdown]

No wonder sg cars are being targeted by MYTP. No wonder sg cars are targeted by MYsians.

Can't blame them. I'll do the same if my neighbour behaves badly in my house.

i ever encountered one guy driving his Sunny cruising 110-120km/hr on the right-most lane.

every single cars overtook him from the left, some even went at the same speed side by side and stared at him.

Didn't want him to roadhog other drivers anymore.

Thus when it came to my turn, i give him a few quick flashes. No response. Few light taps on my horn, still no response.

LLST no choice, overtake from the left. He still look forward like nothing has happened.

OMG, i can't believe such a person exist in this world.

Probably due to cant speed "at our own home"..... Thus, once across the causeway, somehow the "speed racerboy" kena unleashed in some of the sporeans ... [drivingcar]

to put in another perspective, MY cars also cheong lah. the diff is they know where n when to cheong as they know which day and time the TP are on the look out. While I ll say most of the MY cars do go at reasonably slower pace these days in their national cars, which are usually simpler n smaller, they also got groups which are similar to us and these are no angels. Sometimes, altho rarely, u can see a group of MY performance cars including ferraris going super fast on NSH.

I think its fine to go quick in clear traffic, but what I strongly encourage not to do in foreign land is 'louis hamilton' style driving. I recently had such personal encounters, once with a Subaru STI and another with a Mini Cooper S. I think they have this mentality "oh my car is quite fast, how come someone is tailing me. I cant let this happen. Gotta get ahead n away from this guy ..." The moment I came up to their arse n flash my long beams to pass, they went hay-wire. Traffic was heavy with lotsa MY cars but these people drive like some I saw in SG in late hours, weaving in n out, left n right to get ahead n away from my car, like just to prove that they can drive like a GP racer. What they probably dont realise is they utterly pissed off the MY cars. I meant I was in a hurry, if u are slower pls give way on lane 1. But if u can go quicker, pls by all means just speed up a bit(in good traffic conditions). Dont drive like some idiots, it doesnt prove anything but only shows u are arrogant and spoilt the name of SG drivers.

Me too. I had similar experience on NSHW. I flashed the road hogger (in SG registered car) a few times but he didn't responded. So I honked him with my air-honk kau2 until he gave way after nearly 1km.. Hehehehe.. [thumbsup]

I have friends and encounter people who were going at 330km/h on the NSH.

From JB border to Thai border in about 5 hours more or less.

I wonder how they handle inter cross section winds at that speed....

when that car can hit 330km/h the aerodynamics of that car surely can allow that car to go somewhat safely cutting the wind as it passes thru.

Thanks! I was told about it and thinking about it.

We're all driving "aerodynamic" cars. At 250km/h I was already fighting the wind... it made my car sway.

I ask some guys and they told me, it sways too... but they really have the balls to go faster and faster... have to give it to them

Do you think more down force will work?

not really

more important is how aerodynamically the car is designed (cd) and its frontal area, lowering it (if not already done) with stiffer springs will reduce the frontal area and plant the vehicle firmer to the ground and less prone to lift/sway as well
