Let me summarise this thread for easier reading. This is about...........

"if can afford, got for 6-potter. 4 potter 'underpowered' "

"4 potter bimmer CMI for a conti car"

"BMW is famous for the 6-potter, driving a 4-potter is only buying their badge"

''Even if I can afford a 4-potter, I rather buy a JAP car with higher BHP"

"I rather buy a second hand 6-potter than seen driving a new 4-potter"

"audi A5 nice but underpowered/overpriced"

....Ok did I miss out anything. *sour grapes thread*

hmm, if this is targeted at me, let me check:-

first statement - wrong

second statement - wrong

third statement - wrong again

fourth statement - wah wrong again

fifth statement - correct

last statement - correct

2 out of 6.

so unless you comprehension fail, i take it you are not targetting me.

[rolleyes]

i had the same mentality, but getting older, perspectives change and seek a little bit more of creature comfort.

IDrive is pretty useful and auto also in today's traffic condition

Hey guys, I realise for 325i, theres a 2.5L and 3L version.

Anyone knows whats the diff in performance, etc ?

2.5L = Port injection;

3L = Direct injection.

For direct injection version, it is not sold in Asia.

2.5L: 215hp@650RPM; 250NM@2750-4250

3L: 215HP@6100RPM; 270NM@2400-4200 RPM

What ???

2.0 turbo 4 port dual VVTi direct fuel injection = 220 hp at 5300 rpm & torque at 350 Nm from 2,000>4,000 rpm ?

Adaptive forward lightings, adaptive dampening full time, ESP, ABS, TCS, EDB, electronic brakes, [email protected] ?

Four doors, big boot, Euro NCAP=5*, Europe Car Award 2009, Retail at $120K.

What car ???

Thx for the explanation bro. [thumbsup]

There is actually 1 used, imported into SG and Im actually considering it.

I thought there was a typo of the engine capacity at 1st.

Seriously is it worth to pay the additional road tax for the 3L version ?

Just for 20NM more ?

Im also thinking if getting a used imported vehicle is worth it ?

Much cheaper and comes with 10 yrs COE, and comes with PML warranty as well.

Also worrying about the maintenance part, not sure if PML workshop have ever dealed and can actually handle with a 3L version.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. [:)]

Hmm, cuz my bro owns a beemer and he says the in-car computer stuff is very complicated.

My fren works as a PML technician says the same.

My only worry is the maintenance part, can outside workshop do just as well as PML ?

Its a Yes for Jap cars but a Bmw with complicated technology ?

And also it seems the 3L 325i is very rare, which made things worst.

Dilemma btw a "1-2yr old e92" or a "slightly used but with 10yr coe e92" for similar pricing.

Which will you take if your in my shoes ?

Seriously need some advice, thanks bro.

Don't worry about that. No problem at all. Independent workshops have the diagnostic tools and special BMW tools that PML has. In fact, they can even do stuff that PML won't.

But its not the usual 2.5L 325, I think its a detuned 3L 325.

Thus Im worried as I think its pretty rare.

So many questions in my mind about this.

Will you guys even consider it ?

Its fine to get a used import. It comes with a low omv thus you getting it cheaper. The only problem i see is just that its probably harder to resale back to the market when you change ur car in the future.

As for servicing wise, there are a number of reputable workshops around which can handle continental cars like BMW and obviously more reasonable price.

All mechanics who r not familiar wif conti will say BMW is complicated especially now wif idrive. However, once they really work on it, it is not that complicated.

Other than detuned 3L, there is also detuned 2.5L in local mkt. The only problem i would foresee wif independant workshop & PML is that they may not be familiar wif N53.

May I ask what is N53 ? Its the detuned 3L version ? Not E92 ? Sorry Im new to Bmw. [:p]

And is it worth it to pay the additional road tax for the minimal performance difference ?

Or are there other differences ?

Bodywise its the same as other E92 except the engine ?
