Change of Aircon Filter in Kia Carens III

Yesterday finally found the time to check how to change aircon filter for my ride. Managed to do it after some effort. At first thought have to unscrew some screws to remove the glovebox compartment and really dig to access the filter like my previous MIJ Latio and some other cars I know of. But it prove to be much more easy and really effortless.

To access the aircon filter on this car, no need any tools at all! Just bare hands! Just need to turn out a round plastic knob on each side of the glovebox, then push out the arm latch at bottom left corner of the glovebox, then you can see the fliter just right staring at you. Then just pull the filter tray out and you can do the cleaning or changing you want. Very amazed by the ingenuity of the Korean designers for this car! 5 mins will be all it takes after some experience, and no sweat unlike other cars need whole body contorting to squint and look for the bloxxdy filter and getting all wet after the job. One more thing I found is that it seems certain model of Hyundai cars share the same filter as both company logos are printed on the filter. Not surprising since they are sister companies.

The aircon filter dimension: 20.5cm x 22.5cm x 1.5cm

At least the easy access will encourage me to do frequent dusting on the filter and do DIY filter changing. Really Love this car more and more.

That was the first time I accessed the filter. My intention was to measure the dimension to get replacement, at the same time dust it a bit. 2 weeks ago I saw alot of aircon filters in Ubi Autobacs, but AD ones very ex like >$75 while aftermarket can get for <$20. Gunning for aftermarket ones but not sure size. Will visit soon now that I know the filter size.

But was really surprise by the easy access to the aircon filter. You driving Carens III too?

If carens III can offer 10km/litre 50-50

then it'll be the best 2litre mPV.

What's the FC of Carens III since u been driving it for some time now?

Any problems encountered so far?

My Carens III FC has been about 9 to 9.5KM/L. Best was 10km/L. For a fair comparison, I got about 11.5 to 12km/L with my previous Latio.

Problems wise only once. When I collected my car, did not test the wiper function. A day later realised it and sent in for repair. found out the wiper pump spoilt. Replaced, and no problem for exactly a year already. Generally no complains but compliments only for this car. FC a bit higher due to the 1600kg unladen weight, but this and its construction really gives confidence. When I drove my previous Latio, it felt very light and cornering do not feel good unlike current ride. Hit by an merc before and damage was not great, at least did not crumble like any jap. And the seat flexibility really make it a good people and things mover. Weekends can bring 2 kids to east coast cycling with their bikes with the back seat folded.

Now that it is only 56k and with > 10 extra features, really worth to get.

omfg

very hard plastics

I think you are looking for trouble. Nothing better to comment please keep away from this thread.

If you want to compare hard plastic, definitely this car is not at the lower end of same price category be it MIJ or MIK cars! The whole dashboard has been very well constructed without any visible gaps. And I do not feel cheap driving this car.

Yes, really worth to get. The previous generation Carens last time also selling around $50+k, but this version is so much better for the same price.

A good local review, generally everything good comments, except for the last row seats.

Sienta and Carens, even though pricing wise is almost the same, is actually very different and cater for different needs. Best_ctzn and I had a long "discussion" about which is better on another thread many moons ago.

Yah. More important is we like what we got lah. Sienta is a good car no doubt but there are those who are wary of PI issue. At least we have a viable alternative soon called Freed from KM for those afraid of PI.

Actually now I a bit sian about having to slide the middle row for entry to 3rd row. Very troublesome. Next time will buy a walk-through type which has only 2 seats in middle row.

I did take a look at Honda Freed before. The internal quality cannot compare with Carens.

Plastic and material used by Carens is much better. Try knocking at the dash board and compare the 2 car and you will know what I mean.

Freed may be only 1.5L, but it's not in the same price range as Carens $56k or Sienta $53K. It's priced closer to Stream.

Freed interior quality is better than Sienta, hahaha. But Freed no spare tyre.

So far I only know 1 Sienta owner switch from Sienta to Freed because he needed 8 seats, but many other Sienta owners who checked out the Freed walked away disappointed. It's human tendency to want to switch to newer things, but when we really start to compare, then we find that there are better MPVs for the price range of Freed.

oic. then u prefer jelly plastics ah?

hard plastics = cheaper cost and easier to mfg, but usually burn faster with more toxic emissions, and contribute to lower ncap safety
