Hi,i just bought a short shifter and will be DIYing it myself.

we know that short shifter helps reduce the throw of the gear distance between each gear.

my new shifter is actually about 2 cm longer than my stock one but the throw distance is about 20% shorter.

but then,i have the urge to cut it shorter by about 3-3.5cm which is shorter than my stock ones.

therefore before i make my final decision,i would like to hear your views.

thanks for reading.

you cut short...then how u gonna screw in the knob? i thought short shifters can also allow you to adjust the throw? its not abt how short the gearstick is also ma...is the length of travel... anyways y yr CVR only boost 1 bar? Life for turbo starts @ 2 bar and above [thumbsup]

other than using screw, there are other methods to fix the gearknob also.

i thought the shorter the stick, the short the length of travel?or is it same?

Bro...as i said before it is good to have longer gear stick. I still stick to this theory. Don't cut it...I use to have a short one but regreted cos the reach is terrible and tend to misshift.

my previous ride has got a shorter shifter,so iam actually more used to short ones.

anyway,i won't be cutting it already.

just give a try on a longer shifter, maybe i will have a change of mind.haha.

iam now still figuring out how to remove my stock shifter.

very tricky job. [sweatdrop]

Now that your pivot point of the shifter is shorter by 20%...u will also reduce some time when reaching for the stick cos it is longer and nearer to steering. [thumbsup]
