Soundproofing for doors

if u suspect wind coming thru the door, then use masking tape to seal and try (if malu, drive at night so ppl cannot see the tape)..must get a friend to tape the driver side.....Good soundproofing is either big (foam type, air gaps) or heavy (if thin, like curtains or the mat material..).

Was looking at Wheel Arc spray, undercarriage spray (as oppose to insulation), Firewall insulation, doors insulation and after car warranty out drive to Malaysia for Autofoam...either that or spend the same $$ for a good ICE system. Also drop the idea of chaning to 16" rim to get UHP tyres and instead get a more comfort based tyres with some performance (looking at CPC5. Was even considering Advan DB although i hated the DB tyres)

its true, dont start into the soundproofing, now i get irritated when my engine is not smooth (already change EO 2 times in last 3000km cause fell in love with the super quiet engine noise after flush and new engine oil..now i know its not practical. Everything now is irritating me..even just send in car to AD for the brake vacuum sound, discover rattling sounds, tyre sound (changing tyre next month), even the ABS brake testing when car start moving off irritates me. Even start looking at ICE products even though i only listen to radio. Also discover Shell petrol make the engine sound louder..dont know why but even my wife also notice it. Now travel out of the way just to pump Caltex 98 (looking for cheaper quieter petrol...LOL if that makes sense).

Now must fix my illness before i go crazy and spend $$$

i have sound proofed my car bonnet, 4 doors, parts of the firewall, and parts of cabin floor. the engine and road sound still exists, but it is softer and feels distanced from me. i'm going to paste SP materials on the wheel arcs soon...which is the major contributor of road noise.

Nice bro.

I also noticed there is this sponge trimming on the stock speaker. When i replaced it with component speaker and asked the installer about filling this gap between the mid bass and plastic door panel, they just said no effect on the SQ but i dont quite agree with them. Since u brought out this issue, i will definitely try it out once i have the time.

please try n let me know wat ur comment. i would like to think this has greatest impact, compared to double / triple layer sp, since there is no stray sound leaking into door panels.

maybe it's my ride that have more significant effect???

before u proceed, check your plastic panel underside if there is a plastic ring; that should also help, or perhaps line a thin foam layer on its surface.

you definitely will hear the difference after soundproofing but if im not wrong sound proofing materials for 4 doors and cabin floor is already close to 15kg-20kg if you lay 2 layers

those considering soundproofing whole car shld take into consideration of the Fuel consumption
