alot of my colleagues and friends shun away from the thought of a korean made car.

alot of remarks like:

"will spoil very easy"

"japanese better"

"waste money"

personally i think Koreans have come a long way and has made its mark worldwide. And i guess if you give china made cars another 10 years, it will succeed too.

but there is one thing i hate about korean made. The depreciation. Urgh.

the kimchi had improved a lot whereas the japs are getting worse on their quality, design and finishing

it is the perception and the mindset that ppl has to change

last hyundai stellar, excel and accent, daewood racer, etc did pose some issues but ever since they bring their products to the world stage especially Europe and America, their quality, technology had improved leaps n bound.

depreciation...if u compare those driving continental cars, depreciate more than 10k per yr...so as compare to korean car how much depreciation...anyway buy car, depreciation starts the moment u collect the key...so just enjoy the ride....

Well said. 20 yrs ago, I wouldn't buy the Excel.

Today I have no regrets having bought a Getz. It's cheap and reliable. [flowerface]

When you buy low, however bad the depreciation, it can't get lower than the paper value which all cars have as their baseline.

Neutral Newbie

Having own two Korean cars before my current Jap. Seriously, I feel parts for the Koreans cars are cheaper compared to my current Jap. Ok, fc might not be it's strong point then but I believe the newer cars are better now. On top of that they are better spec and very good value.

Only thing is the trade in value is really bad. My advise is, don't buy a Korean car when it is just launched. Wait for a year or two when they normally comes with more stuff and at the same time the price will be lower somemore. That's when I feel is a good deal. Take the Kia Carens, which goes for less than $60k now (at least that's what the paper says). I think it's a steal at that price plus the goodies it offer. [:)]

One cent is worth one cent worth of product or goods.

Most people thought they got more out of the same one cent but it is not . Many factors are also depending on your expectation. It is difficult to quantify comfort, image, driving dynamics, etc....

Nowadays, getting a Korean car is not a bad choice compare to getting a Jap car that is made in Thai.

Korean car has improved a lot in Quality and durability and if our local dealer can bring in the higher spec korean car in to our shore....definately be a piece of good news to korean car lovers...but there's a price to pay

My personal take on Korean cars is that...

Their small cars are good....but the larger size (2.0L above) is more like a hit and miss thing....

Small cars are great runabout....cannot complain too much cos of the price tag. Want something better...pay for it lor. I drove a Accent for around 2 months....it was a great ride.....economical to run....easy to drive and fairly comfortable.

Big cars..I tried the Captiva and Sonata....while they are ok, some of the parts is kinda let down....the 2.0L car feels cheap...there is no marked quality improvements over their smaller capacity siblings. Fuel economy is not fantastic too....

So if I wanna buy a small run about...I will seriously consider a Korean. But if I am in the market for a luxury model....I will look for a Jap car or Jap/Thai car.

I drove Korean cars before. The conclusion I have is: once you own a Made-in-Japan vehicle, you would not want to go back to Made-In-Korea one.

Generally, the difference lies in the engine, drivability and the reliability of parts in the long run. Interior wise, the Koreans are improving as can be seen in the Avante. The pricing of Korean cars are more generally more affordable relative to similar Japanese models and thus relates well to budget conscious buyers.

I do not think there is a right or wrong answer to choose Japanese or Korean cars as it is up to individual expectations and needs. We cannot use the same yardstick to measure for everyone.

Korean movies and TV series getting better and better.

Korean LCD technology already used by Sony.

Korean phones like Samsung is one of the best seller now.

Korean chicks looks more chio and sexy than Japs ones now.

So why can't people accept the fact that Korean cars are better ?

Only one word to describe : ego

Better to show off a f**k-up Jap car than a good kimchi one, because many people own one. [shakehead]

what has nice movie and sexy chicks got to do with car ? better lcd and handphone means good car ?

if so american cars should be the best in the world since their technology in most areas are by far superior to all countries. your logic doesnt make sense because you are clearly emotional and not rationale. the truth is, korean cars are still behind japanese makes, which is quite evident, although the gap is closing.
