Bro,

I think the biggest giveaway that sets the Harrier apart from the RX is the absence of a centre differential. Squat down behind the car and you can easily see this in the RX (since its rather high).

i know someone who was obsessed in 'converting' his Harrier to a RX (i think he's got evey cosmetic details changed). Now, he is converting it to a RX400h (which he indented a new grille, front bumper and new emblems). And guess what? the 2010 new RX350 will have totally new platform! so i suggest he better save all the $$$ for a true Lexus.

Anyway, i believe he is more of an interest than show-off as the amount of money spent could easily buy him a relatively new RX now.

u can do all comestic change to look like a true lexus, but the engine can never be changed.

there is nothing great deal about a 'lexus' apart from the engine.

lexus badge is by no means to show status, far from it...

does not mean that u are more superior driving a lexus, likewise more inferior driving a harrier.

a car is a car, importantly is the character of the driver.

if u own and drive a true lexus, it is very easy to spot a lexus wannabe.

the most difficult task is to spot a true lexus that converted 'comestically' to a harrier. (there are one or two in singapore according to the lexus forum).

You believe someone will buy a Lexus and convert into Harrier look-alike? And what's all the efforts for?

Maybe if they are earning illegal $$, want to enjoy yet not dare to let others know.... [lipsrsealed] . In those cases, they would not want the mechanic or you to know anyway.

Why dont go buy Cherry and put BMW badge

Ya, I think Harrier should remain as Harrier, why many ppl wanna change the badge to Lexus? [sweatdrop]

that the power of advertisement and branding

But from my understanding:

if there are two version of the same car that is for local consumption (japan market) and overseas market, the Japan market one will have more features and better "quality" generally

this is apparently cultural - japanese tends to keep the good stuff for themselves

i am driving a PI version and it has more accessories than the ad version

it is not that cheaper because you loose the 3 + 2 years warranty from BM

Yes, i have been contemplating to buy the RX300 or Harrier AIRS initially.

But calculating that price differences and I dont really care about the branding, i bought the Harrier AIRS as it has more feature with cameras, dvd, monitor display and also I loved the comfort of the Air suspension.

In the long run, you will find better service with Borneo Motor lexus as they do provide good service (I had the LS430). And they are more willing to provide the spare parts when its backordered. But however I am still waiting for the latest RX to hit our shores and perhaps change it.

Hi pple

Anyone is a driver of the rx300? Wanted to know if it is a reliable car and what is the fc like? what is the diff btw rx300 and rx350 apart from the engine size? IS the servicing expensive?

i can say this is my most reliable car i ever had. basic wear and tear sure have, most service can be done outside. But BM does provide very good service for lexus car.

300 is a fuel guzzler! i do something like 6-7km/l!!! so, go for the 350, heard it has better FC.
