Is Singapore Driving License valid in LHD countries?

I think most countries recognise our licence, but safer to get IDL just in case. More like a safeguard/insurance in case anything happens.

Anyway only $20+ from AA.

I got a IDL when I rented a car in LA. But don't recall the rental desk asking to see it. Probably because SG lesen is in English. The PRC in front of me in the Q did hv to show some extra documents (presumably a IDL) when doing the paperwork

Many people mistaken that the IDP(not IDL) is a license to drive.

No

The IDP is merely a translation of your license and must be used in conjunction with your own driving licence.

So for English speaking countries, it is usually not needed while non-English speaking countries will ask for it.

I've driven in Europe and Australia, both which do not require the IDP. But Japan, Taiwan and Korea will ask for your IDP in soft copy at the point of online booking.

Speaking of valid driving licence, is the driving licence for auto gear valid for oversea use?
