Moeykf Neutral Newbie January 6, 2009 Share January 6, 2009 Dear all, I just got my outer dust cover of my driveshafts replaced last friday(Mileage 40Kkms), lucky the bearings no damage. SGD$180 for both side, 1 hour job. I only get to know that the dust covers were torn after my tyre rotation at South East Tyres, went to AD but they were closed....so I got this driveshaft specialist contact from my friend's workshop. The address is Blk 21 Sin Ming Road #01-31. "ELITE DRIVESHAFT". I will post the name card tonight. ↡ Advertisement

Fortress Clutched January 7, 2009 Share January 7, 2009 Bro, Any idea how much it costs for replacing the driveshaft with a recon??? and if I had known of this shop earlier, I wouldnt go back to AD...the total cost for boot replacement was close to $300 Dust cover is cheap, roughly about S$40. It is the workmanship. Last done this at a workshop in Sembawang at S$100 for both sides, less cover. You are wise to have noticed it before the shaft fails. It will be to oil the covers now and then, it helps to prevent it from tearing.

Fortress Clutched January 7, 2009 Share January 7, 2009 sorry ,all bro. what is this dust cover? i dun understand... pai say Turn your steering fully to one side. And look at the connection between the wheel and the shaft. There will be a piece of rubber which is like a little spring/cone. Try oiling it whenever you can, it will help prevent tearing. Heehee...no lar...sorry if I sounded like that but coming from the polymers industry, most oils do not mix well with rubbers....so I was wondering if there are some kinda specially formulated oil/grease that can be used with rubbers mar... I would usually use Armoural or Solaral or something like this, some oil for the plastics will do.
