OMV so low, wah lao.

Secondhand 525i is best.

OMV $61,888 and COE $27k, high paper value cant lose much.

for sale $95k only

however, for people who die die want brand new and good value, I think i'll recommend the S80 2.5T. can be had for under $140k

Their son used to own a 523 which was just sold off recently ... they should had "taken" over the 2 year old car .. anyway that is another story ..

Someone is the other forum selling his 10mths 525 at $165K with 62K OMV.

I just hope they should not spend too much and maybe just buy a Passat or eqv if they are sick of Jap cars.

One year ago, I was looking at the same choices, except that I also considered the Audi A6, and the BMW offering was the 523.

In the end, I chose the S80, and never regretted it.

Unless most folks who prefer handling and sporty performance, my criteria was more on a peaceful drive, and cheap to maintain. At that price range, the S80 offered the best value for money (for me), and was maintenace-free ($$$ wise) for the first 3 years. Plus, the service, both pre and post-sales from SM Motors, is excellent.

How do I define a peaceful drive? The interior design of the S80 was clutter-free, and very easy to use whilst driving. I find the german cars, too cluttered in the dashboard, and overly complicated in switching things. The Volvo concept is something I much prefer.

And for a premium car, at least SM Motors treats their customers like a premium status. PM and C&C, typically bo-hiew. Even my father-in-law who has a S-class, commented that SMM treated me and my S80 much better than C&C treated him and his S-class.

But then, if you're comparing on brand status, sporty performance, image, magazine reviews, then no fight lar. S80 sure lose out based on those criteria.

in terms of clutter free executive, the 5er is probably the most clutter free with the least buttons.

new s80 is not clutter free but the design is top notch

I was at SM Motors one day and saw a car at one side of the showroom facing the side entrance fully covered with a nice car cover and surrounded with tie ropes attached to the posts at 4 corners.

When I asked the sales person who attended to me as to why is the car covered and surrounded with the ropes and she explained to me that it is SM Motors philosophy in treating their buyers with honour when the latter collects the vehicle.

When the buyer arrived at the showroom, the senior staff and sales personnel would be standing around the tie rope and someone will usher the buyer to the car to remove the cover. After the car is exposed, all the staff will start clapping and it makes one really feels great when collecting their vehicle at SM Motors. Thereafter, the buyer and their family members are treated with refreshments.

As for Volkswagon, the buyer's car is placed in an enclosed glass room facing the main showroom. When the buyer arrived at the showroom to collect the car, he will be ushered to the room to feel the car before driving off.

I find that SM Motors sales personnel are very friendly, good service provided to customers, the manner in which they treated the buyer when collecting the vehicle and after sales service.

Since you have your choices narrowed down and you have the budget to buy one of them, then the next step is to go test-drive them and find out which car you like the best. I'd also do some research on the forum to find out what are ppl saying abt each of the cars and whether there is any inherit faults or annoyances. The other thing to note is dealing with salesperson. I tend to pick the car i like first and then talk to the salesperson to negotiate. If I dont like the person bcos of the way he/she serves me, then I'll come another time and ask to talk to an another person who is more flexible and willing to please me with freebies.

I would personally choose 525 over e200 (if money is not a problem) bcos of performance and styling. I cant speak on S80 bcos it's a volvo ...which sounds like a vulva. [laugh]

Oh crap, no M5 ah ? [inlove]

If that someone can stretch the budget to 530 that would be great. Otherwise 525 is sufficient.

Turbocharged

Personally experience SM motors service for 5+ years now. Would say they are the best I have experience.

However buying a car is more than just the service, its all the attributes and if its driving pleasure i.e handling etc, then it should be BMW.

All in the list are fine cars and whichever one a person chooses, will be a good choice.
