Creative Technology becomes Destructive liao

Creative Tech could not find their niche after their sound card business evaporated, till now.

They tried a few things like the MP3 players (I bought their first CD looking one), and after that mostly accessories like speakers and stuff that everyone else can make.

Frankly Electronic companies are one of the toughest industry to be in because some products that is revolutionary, ahead of its time, is too ahead and the consumers are not ready, good example is the Apple Newton.

Apple is strong because it knows how to hit on the consumer at the right time, and place. Its strategy of being secretive creates mystery and got everyone speculating and salivating.

Now all of Silicon valley are doing likewise.

Creative is history unless they be bold and innovative and come out with a revolutionary product at the right place at the right time. But what product will catch on ? That my friend is a Trillion $ question.

yup..v competitive n demanding customers in this industry.

me is because I dont like the way they keep sueing. Find their stuff pricey. The way they sue & apply patents, they are like aspiring to be a monopoly......so familaiar... Hence I rather throw my support to LG & SamS, esp the former as they dont have as much endorsements/advertising campaigns.

ya i dont like apple also..if not for work, wont use it alr...thats y i have 2 phones..another one is htc...

Turbocharged

creative roar is a classic example of everything that is wrong with the company.... excellent product, beautiful sound production, pretty ok design.... but an freaking array of mind-boggling functions that guarantee to confuse any normal user.

To activate the siren - you need to press a button or something for 3 secs, then flick another switch....Who in the right mind will rem that esp if you are in danger and really need the siren to call for help???

They even throw in a SD card reader function into the device!?!?

Meaning u can use the device as a SD card reader if it is connected to your computer.....

I have checked out roar......the sound well, sounded like is from a cheap speaker.

But then none of these blue tooth speakers sounded good to me.

Nothing beats a classic 2.1 system with separate speakers and sub. When they design everything all in one small box, the sound just distorts from the the real audio fidelity.

Quote from some writer in Aug 13:

Recently, I boarded the train and discovered that Creative Technology HQ in Jurong East Business Park is undergoing changes. Level 1 and Level 2 seems to be cleared out and the whole floors appears to be empty.

There were many rumours that his company is not doing well. Apple has taken a huge chunk of his electronic music business.

revenue has been falling consecutively...same for profits...the only time they reported profits, is when they take a one time gain from selling some stuffs or when they succeeded in suing some companies, else it is in the red.

Yet at the same time, they are paying out dividends... take a close look at their dividends payout - it is about 6.7% .... how long more can they cont to bleed?

Nobody can keep on bleeding. No succession plan heard off. No suitors knocking.

I'm surprise the board keeps him as CEO.

Based on FY2013 annual report, Mr. Sim owns 33.12% of the company. The largest shareholder.

Being the chairman of the board as well, only way is self renewal.
