Not many i30 on the road yet.

I am sure many will go for forte since price the same and it is a sedan.

Forte and i30 is with different engine right? Forte seems to be powerful than i30 on paper.

BTW, are both forte and i30 with power window? One touch and window close or open by itself type.

Oh i see.

Does i30 come with power window? Previously, korea car does not have power window and need to keep pressing on the open button in order to open it.

BTW, i30 is expensive than avante and only becoz of the build quality?

hi there all,

thank you for your inputs. My only fear its a Korean car.No offence.Resale very bad.

honestly, i was sort of scouting around for a second hand car. to my surprise,

i cannot believe my eyes to see some Jap cars like a decent early Y07 civic 1.6

is asking for $45k negotiable. wow, if the myth of Jap cars can hold good resale

value, it must be a bleed for the owners who bought these cars & lost $30k in 2 years.

A new i30 now cost $47k, a civic 1.6 cost $72k. with a $25k gap, how much can

an i30 lose?

after all, owning a Jap car is no glamour from owning a Korean car, it's like

wearing a Hang Ten tee comparing to a Gordano tee.

IMHO, i30's quality, power and driving feel, is worth at $47k, alot better than

say a civic. no offence to civic owners, Hyundai intended to build an i30 as

a civic beater, looks like this time i30 wins.

(buy an i30 instead of a civic 1.6A, you'll have extra $25k to party)

Agree, today how many cars will gain good resale value??? IMO is how long would like to keep?

Do you like the car, enjoy driving it??? Not just buy it and start to think the resale value.............

just my personal view, no offend

In the 1st place there are no such thing such as high resale value... In Singapore, typically, the name of the game here is that cars have value that only lasts for 10 years. Resale value = Paper value + body for this 10 years.

Paper value is fixed from OMV + COE, and although u have higher OMV in a Jap, it also means it depreciates more thus u lose more over time because u bought a car with higher OMV. As for body value, after 5 years , typically MIJ = ~5k, MIK = ~3k , but current market conditions is so bad that dealers are willing to take in your car only at paper value with almost no body.

In Singapore, Drive car = lose $$ from day 1... Y not try to lose less instead? Unless of course, buying a car to you is like buying a handphone.

2 cents
