Twofouronenite 1st Gear December 31, 2008 Share December 31, 2008 For FD civic, at cruising, the auto is actually more fuel efficient than the manual. You can check out the press release when it first came out. Maybe u should read from the link from KM webpage: http://www.honda.com.sg/cars/torque.pdf
Kelpie 2nd Gear December 31, 2008 Share December 31, 2008 Sunny 1.6M 100km/h @2500 rpm also Honda city 1.5M 100km/h @30000 rpm It is hig rev but without compromising fuel economy significantly. Since when did you hear Sunny is renown for its fuel economy at low rpm for 100Km/h? Regards,
Seevic Neutral Newbie December 31, 2008 Share December 31, 2008 Aiya, manual transmission at the end of the day still more FC efficient. Normal to have higher RPM for manual too. Check this: http://www.articlesbase.com/cars-articles/...red-610972.html http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/ne...-vs-auto-ov.htm Golden rule: Ideal rpm for lowest FC is the lowest rpm. Twofouronenite 1st Gear December 31, 2008 Share December 31, 2008 Golden rule: Ideal rpm for lowest FC is the lowest rpm. I think the rule should be Efficiency in Combustion. How well do u burn the fuel and air mixture, not number of RPM.
Seevic Neutral Newbie December 31, 2008 Share December 31, 2008 Golden rule: Ideal rpm for lowest FC is the lowest rpm. Btw, juz a "general" golden rule la. Of course not taking the above word for word. Since taking into consideration for different makes of vehicles, i believe there is a cut-off point in spd/rpm("sweet speed") that will yield the best FC & not necc at lowest spd or rpm. IMHO.... Kelpie 2nd Gear December 31, 2008 Share December 31, 2008 I think the rule should be Efficiency in Combustion. How well do u burn the fuel and air mixture, not number of RPM. This is a more reasonable explanation. Engine does count. Regards,

Don't get me wrong either, Of course if everything is the same(transmission, tyre, weight, density of air etc) then full agree, the golden rule is correct. Lowest RPM is better one! No doubt. That why, I under this link: http://www.honda.com.sg/cars/torque.pdf , the 1.8M is 6.6L/100Km compare to 1.8A at 6.7L/100Km. But have to note it is not just talking about crusing but mix mode which I assume will be city and hiway driving.

Nt30 Neutral Newbie January 1, 2009 Share January 1, 2009 so low mah? do you use stock tyres, how come mine is 2500rpm on 5th gear? I am on 215/45/17 AD07, I think manual gear is higher RPM, the EK 4 manual is 3000rpm@90km/h on 5th gear with stock!
Passion 5th Gear January 1, 2009 Share January 1, 2009 yo bro, your explaination is wrong lah :( ... doesn't mean got power lost then RPM lower....arghh..it is due to the gear ratio. You can read up wikipedia to understand how gears work.....the power lost does not translate anything to the RPM. Power lost will be felt. (slower acceleration ) ..... Eh brother,i never say i'm correct leh.I say if not wrong. So i might be wrong leh.Of cuz i know it's gear ratio, but when going at final gear,it has lock-in clutch, thus the rpm would be lower,as it is lock to the engine speed instead of free rev,if that's what ppl call it. Drive_carcar Clutched January 4, 2009 Share January 4, 2009 I still believe a manual will post better fc as compared to an auto at the end of the day. My MT chao chao is 13km/l... so even 2500 rpm at 100km/h, can't complain too much..
Oscar__76 Neutral Newbie January 13, 2009 Share January 13, 2009 mine is FD4M..3000rpm at 100km/h.. i find it strange having a high RPM at 3k where my speed is only 100km/h
Turbonetics 2nd Gear January 13, 2009 Share January 13, 2009 ask civic drivers, do you notice that thanks a lot i believe different FD models(1.6,1.8,2.0 and Type R) have different gear ratios. and also manual and auto trans usually are different too.
