Renault Laguna worth the $?

Yes nowadays resale prices are not up to expectation because new car is getting cheaper.

Good resale also means that someone willing to buy your car. You may not have come across situations where even the dealer says you sell it yourself, then you advertised it. No buyer call.

I second your statement. That's what exactly happening on the ground.

Thanks

Actually got someone respond to the selling ad. It is another owner of the same model trying to find a buddy to check if I face the same problems as him. [speechless]

Gee Wearnes must have improved. When they just took over, had the honor of being attended by a then very inattentive receptionist. Was presented with a take it or leave it attitude too (we are busy, can't help you). I was walking out the door until someone from the previous management came from behind the desk and chase me for assistance. Well, the survey has been there since Exklusive days, but not as if they are any better.

But having droved Megane for 5yrs+, I am still missing it over my Japanese MPV but less the windows problem. Safety was top because I collided head on with a taxi. Myself and then pregnant wife walked away without much, can't say much for the taxi driver though. My next car would still be a Conti, I hope.

yup, they have improved. when they first took over, heard quite some complains about their service from renault owners, but after about maybe in less than a year, they really turn around real good and won praise from many owners and even those who used to complain abt them.

Nice to hear about the CS improvement.

I am driving one and if you discount the initial windows problem, the drive is fantastic now. [rolleyes]

Personally, i find Jetta looks a bit weird likely due to the fact that the styling is for a hatch (Golf) & they try to make a sedan out of it. Front is nice (No diff from Golf) but the rear looks like it being compressed down 2 size from a Passat rear. [thumbsdown]

Won't go for Laguna either cos the new Megane looks more compact & sporty without the 'Ah pek' car size

For 2.0 conti car, only the Jetta comes close to Laguna.

I will still go for the Laguna.

Well, you may be right. I had not tried owning a Renault but unlikely to take the risk to own one.

Resale may be a problem if you decide to give up the car.

..take a look at the renault forum...and you will come across those common expensive (if you have been driving a Jap car) problem...especially if warranty period is over...Battery, ignition coil, power window...to name a few...there is even 1 bro who mentioned that his friend who bought a scenic...drove out from AD after collecting his new car...broke down on the road on the same day itself... [thumbsup][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

to mi, its a wrong conception tat driving a conti is more up mkt as many perceived to be. Other than reliability problems, make no mistake tat the ride comfy of conti esp French car is far more superior.

Sorry to bring up this old thread. I am thinking of a used Laguna or a X-Type. Only these 2, please don't propose something else. Anyone bought these 2 cars or own their before? Any comments?

Which car do you own before? Laguna or X Type?

neither

both are rubbish to me

the x type is less rubbish at least

one has hideous french unreliability, the 2.0t with 167hp is totally rubbish

one has such a hideous lack of useable boot space, even a mazda2 has better boot

passat/camry

b/w the 2 options

both are same agent wearnes, but u get better treatment on the jag side

but the parts are not cheap, but u can find outside workshops

the v6 is pretty smooth and creamy but more a cruiser than a bruiser

the laguna was axed due to poor sales/cost cutting measures,

at least it has a little more torque on the low end side

u can refer to previous reviews

Twincharged

With Nissan as the DNA to Renault, some of the new model spart parts are starting to be more reliable.

It fits my requirements like power outputs, space, look etc.....

Have you go and see the 2 cars in the used car market yet?
