What kind of Handsfree Bluetooth do you use in car?

Used to have a clip-on bluetooth handsfree rearview mirror and was happy with it on the previous car. In the current car, the bluetooth rearview mirror likes to vibrate so much that I've given up.

I'm now looking at the Seecode, http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(39552)SeeCod...th-Car-Kit.aspx. In Singapore, it was selling like $319 to $299, it is much cheaper to get it from the UK, barely $200 :o . Any users here?

Please feel free to recommend any good handsfree too :D .

Thank you very much.

Regards,

I am using a Sony Ericsson HCB-120. It can be clipped on the sun visor or placed on the dashboard.

I bought it initially because I thought it would work better with my SE K800i phone. I was correct but it is also working well with my wife's Motorola.

When it is turned on, it will look for either of our phones. It can pair up to a max of 5 different phones.

Microphone and speaker are sufficient loud and clear, better than the phone's built in speaker.

My friend is going to buy it after being disappointed with her 2 previous buys, one of them a LG one.

I think I paid about $140 for it. They may have a newer model by now.

P/S: Battery life is fantastic. Sometimes I forget that it needs to be charged.

I am also using a Sony Ericsson HCB-120. So far its has been do well with all my phones, except for the answering button that sometime refuse to response.

Battery life is awsome, brought the units 7 months ago only need to charge 4 to 5 time based on my useage.

With regards to the Seecode, I am not please with its performance. I did not buy one but I manged to test it at a PC Show some 2Q back at Suntec and extensively at Mustafa. I find the speaker too sharp for my liking, its not near natural voice.

You need some expertise in hardware installation but of course you can request the seller to install for you but what when you buy from Mustafa. Its off the counter sales. The devices I tested is easy to come off the steering wheel with a little push.

Currently I am using a not-in-production-anymore model from i-Tech. It is somewhat similar to a Siemen model, round and able to change the position of the speaker. It is attached to the built-in cigarette lighter compartment so there is no issue with battery flat. Sound quality is easy and soothing, near natural quality. Bought it some 2 years back at a PC Show for less than $100.

But these BT speaker does not have a privacy-on-demand and charging facility

During my pre-Symbian HP days, I was using a car-speaker when connected to most of the 3.5mm pin plug-type Nokia hp, not only able to talk-and-drive but was able to charge the hp at the same time. Of course you can also not charge it. The best part was there is a earpiece that is plugged into the carspeaker and anytime you want privacy, just pick it up and mute the speaker.

It is now selling at about $118 or may be slightly lesser. It seems like this model has pretty good review. I will take HCB-120 into consideration. Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you for the feedback. I thought seecode has the most ideal speaking position. The rest you have to either clip it onto the visor or place it on the dashboard. The buttons are all within easy reach. Actually, I'm more concern about the voice clarity and echo-less quality. Another concern would be whether it actually hinder/obstruct the handling of the steering wheel? Also not sure about the battery life too.

Regards.

Yup, also using my phone speaker function, got caller ID, phone book, messaging and all those that handsfree device claim to have. All is needed is a <$10 handphone holder..

I find handphone holder unsightly ^_^ . May be I already have a few gadgets on windscreen and dashboard. The speaker phone quality can't compare with a purpose built handsfree bluetooth device. Also buttons too small. Of course, if want to save, $10 is the way to go.

Most ideal speaking position? I take that to mean the position of the mic. When I was using my Nokia 8850, I placed the phoneby my side, next to the gear stick. My car speaker was actually using the hp mic to pick up voice, and it was pretty clear.

Now my iTech has a built-in mic too and no complain.

I changed my car's head unit to a Sony one with built in bluetooth. No need to worry about running out of battery and the price is competitive! [drivingcar]
