Job prospects for ex-SAF Officer

i would love to kow, after 2 yrs of posting, hows the TS doing?

 

getting market rate for his job?

I know this is an old post, but I'd like to highlight an officer that I respect.

 

I know of one such Officer who was our infantry CO while we were NSF, he is COL Yeo Eidik.

He was a SOF commander before becoming our infantry battalion CO. He took over the helm from our young high flyer 'Scholar CO' who thinks he knows everything and always F* all his captain PSOs and OCs around during exercise. Nobody in our unit really likes him or respects him from the heart, he has the air of superiority complex around him. There is a certain distance you feel between him and the men.

 

Col Yeo was different. Very down to earth, personable, understand his men and very hands on. He treats everyone with respect. During training, he dont do unnecessary things. U know in army, many officers like to do 'extras' to show their superiors they are performing. But he is not like that. Very steady commander. I've never heard him F* anyone during battalion field exercise. We ended up scoring better in our ATEC 2. He earns the respect of all men in our unit.

 

After we ROD, I heard he went to another infantry unit who failed ATEC. Not sure how true, that unit morale was extremely bad, one GPMG gunner threw his guns downstairs. He went there and settle the men and make them perform well in ATEC.

 

When we were back in ICT some years later, he was the Commander of ICT. When we saw him we salute him during exercise with REAL FULL respect.

Under his leadership, our infantry ICT become shorter, training was more concise, chop chop completed within 10 days instead of 14 days. They even included interesting scenario theory and practical training to help us understand in the event of a reality of war, you may need to deal with the aftermath of installation protection, deal with civil unrest in local and foreign territory while manning post etc. Very interesting and real. I must say we looked forward and 'enjoyed' our last few years of ICT. Now I'm out of ICT for a few years, my platoon mates kinda miss it.

 

After ICT stint, he became the Chief Commando Officer. Not sure if he is still there or posted elsewhere.

We need more of this kind of real officer to lead real men in the army.
