Ultramega 1st Gear December 13, 2008 Share December 13, 2008 Just to share my encounters with crappy security when I visited a few friends at their Condos recently. Really lousy standard. Think back also want to laugh ↡ Advertisement

Rollagt 5th Gear December 13, 2008 Share December 13, 2008 Some condo actually call up the unit to inform the owner that Mr/Ms Tan is here.
Jetabout777 1st Gear December 13, 2008 Share December 13, 2008 I have to say Cote d'Azur beside Parkway Parade does this. Sometimes, I guess circumstances play a major role in the effectiveness of security.
Jetabout777 1st Gear December 13, 2008 Share December 13, 2008 It's amazing how slack condo security can get. Then again, just look at the people running the show. Don't even mention security guards, some condo managers also CMI, so how to expect the condo to function properly?
Kwchan 1st Gear December 13, 2008 Share December 13, 2008 Not bad liao, at least the guard do something. At my gf condo, the guard always sleep on the floor at the guard room at night. And he will keep the barrier up so that visitors can drive in and out freely. If i were from the committee, I will ask the security company to refund the $$, the resident pay $$ not to ask the guard to sleep on the floor one. Zippaboy 4th Gear December 13, 2008 Share December 13, 2008 (edited) wah you very lucky. The few condos i went at bukit timah/hillview areas were quite troublesome. usually they will stop you, ask for unit num, then issue you a parking ticket with your carplate num written. the "worst" condo i visited was one at woodlands. First, they asked for my name and friend's unit. So i called my friend and asked him for the unit number. then the guard INTERCOM my friend and ask him whether he knows this guy called "Mr Zippa" and that i was coming. after that, i need to give him my driving license/IC to exchange for a visitor parking label/pass. Chimp Clutched December 14, 2008 Share December 14, 2008 People ever wonder why the condo committee has the legal right to keep your IC? During the time that your IC is in the guard's care, a lot of things can happen - they might mis-placed the card and you have a lot of trouble (and cost) to get it replace. Worse, they can steal the information on your IC and even make photo copies to apply for credit cards, etc...
Redlavita Neutral Newbie December 14, 2008 Share December 14, 2008 some MCST award to the lowest bidder (security service provider) so you get monkeys when you pay peanuts

Xefera 6th Gear December 14, 2008 Share December 14, 2008 duh ... then what is the purpose of posting security at the gates then? might as well put 2 scarecrows or print 2 life size policeman poster and stick at front gates to ward off all evil. my take is to video/tape down the conversation/process and send to condo committee and tell them to wake up their bloody ideas. security should not be compromised for the sake of convenience. Xefera 6th Gear December 14, 2008 Share December 14, 2008 you will appreciate this type of inconvenience if you are staying at this condo. troublesome, yes. but no doubt the security in the condo vicinity is tight and you wont find yourself opening your door to strangers

Worse, they can steal the information on your IC and even make photo copies to apply for credit cards, etc... Yup, only in singapore... Not just condo guards, but when visiting companies, etc. the security likes to retain IC in exchange for a visitor pass. Seems that IC is viewed very lightly here. In some other countries, it is illegal for others (except police) to demand your IC. Even the police cannot retain your IC without strong reason. Sosaria Twincharged December 14, 2008 Share December 14, 2008 Even if the security is super-efficient and good, it's no use. You just hang around near the condo side-entrance, then when resident scan card to go in - just pretend and follow behind... over here, residents keep to themselves and won't challenge you. So what's the point of having tight security at the main gates?? ↡ Advertisement
