which part of the pipe are you talking about?

 

here's a tip: don't go to a car shop if you can (workshop, mod shop, Autobacs, etc) scout around for hardware/industrial parts that you can use.

The silver colour are aluminium flex pipe and are only available from 3" onwards, if I remember correctly.

 

IMO, the material doesn't really matters much as the air that is passing thru' the pipings will not be staying inside the pipe long enough to be heated up by heat transfer from the pipe. A diff in 2 to 3 deg C will not improve much on the performance, you need abuot 30 deg C diff to have at least a 10% increase in performance.
