i think your car overreved the limit when you downshift ,then the your ecu either pull ignition timing or fuel cut to protect the engine .

i think we should define the term "jerk" first. Your "jerk" sounds serious, even to the extent of gearbox felt like almost kaput

 

if it's just a pull, then the "jerk" should be normal
