According to a report on Shin Min Daily, Ms Zhang Xiuchun, 39, joined the dating agency in Feb 2012 and was matched up with two men during the next 12 months. In Mar 2013, the permanent resident felt that she was cheated by the agency and wanted to get a full refund on the membership fee. However, the agency was unable to give her a full refund as she had used their services by meeting up with two men, and proposed to give her a partial refund and terminate her membership. Dissatisfied with the proposal, Ms Zhang went to the agency two months later to settle the issue. The 39-year-old reportedly tried to intimidate the owner, Li Jianhua, 69, with a 34cm long hammer which she had brought from home. The owner was with a customer when Ms Zhang entered the shop. Ms Zhang reportedly smashed several objects and furniture including a pair of custom-made tables worth $800, a telephone which cost $50 and credit card transaction machines. Shin Min said that before Ms Zhang left the house, her anger towards the agency was ignited as she remembered how they had convinced her to become a member. Before going to court Wednesday morning, Ms Zhang reportedly had trouble breathing and later required medical assistance. The Chinese daily said she originally wanted to defend her case but was seen pleading guilty repeatedly.
