Watwheels Supersonic December 7, 2008 Share December 7, 2008 My relative who runs a curtain design shop with 5-6 sales person said that he has at least $10K income even if business is so so.. Another relative who used to subcon factory workers in the 90s makes $30K per month during those days supplying to panasonic etc Do you have other examples to share? Like property agent? hawkers? financial adviser? If your relative's curtain shop is Pte Ltd and he/she is the Director with the appointed salary of 10k/mth, business good or bad he/she still get paid so much anyway. If he/she is a sole proprietor there are overhead costs and misc costs to consider. Minus all those, what he/she gets is not a lot.

Yet they still live very simple lives....except for the youngest son who has a penchance for Bulgari's, Breitling's, Patek Phillipe's and of course German car brands! Comfy 1st Gear December 8, 2008 Share December 8, 2008 I have a friend helping his family run zi char stall at Geyland. His monthly 'allowance' is around $10K. So I reckon the whole stall make around $60K in profit (assuming every members have an equal pay). But their life is really no life.....work from 4pm to 7am (including buying ingredients). Rest only 1 day/mth. Even for CNY, they only rest for the 1st day. I rather earn much lesser and have a more balanced life. well... got money also no time to spend... Chrispie 5th Gear December 9, 2008 Share December 9, 2008 (edited) It is normal to 'gian' when you hear of other's biz that has already gone autopilot to be making quite a good income.. But dun forget for every 1 that made it, 9 failed. It is right that they are paid well, as they should be rewarded for taking up risks. Zanter 3rd Gear December 9, 2008 Share December 9, 2008 You will heard only of the 10-15% who do well. Just like when people make $ in stocks, wah whole world knows. If lose $ tiam tiam. Many many businesses close down, they slinker away tiam tiam but for the lucky few that make it, everybody knows. I have often heard of financial advisors or aka insurance salesman who paid for their cars in cash 1 year, just to be in financial trouble next year. Business always has it up & down. One day u can be rich, next day can be bankrupt. I was just looking at some 8 year old stock books. So many of these small SESDAQ companies are not longer in business and these companies have a capitalisation of> 50 million, what more small setups which dont have economy of scale and strong financial backing? Not saying cannot do well in small business but success is not easy as the market is competitive & entails hidden sacrifices. ↡ Advertisement
