It depends on how you set it up.

Basically the Agis or Google map uses two methods to get the location.

Via Data connection (3G) and/or GPS Satellite signals.

The GPS Satellite signal is free but I do notice Agis when using only this method takes quite a while to pin point the location.

If you use the Data connection, you will be charged accordingly depending on your plan.

You can use both methods together too.

The AGIS GPS that comes with Omnia is free for both M'sia and Spore. You don't need to pay any data charges unless you updated the satellite info thru enhanced GPS.

Google maps is chargeable as it will download the satellite images via your data connection.

Just use AGIS GPS. it's good. You will not need google maps as it does not provide navigational function anyway.

AGIS costs u nothing to activate and use.

Can anyone recommand what other camera cell phone model with at least 5 mega pixel also have GPS that is free?

Based on the above info, seem like we should look for phone that is running with AGIS but not nokia map etc, then it is free of charge for usage. Am I right?

Thx

More than Agis, so long you have a GPS chipset most of or rather all maps allow you to use it free. I have a PDA where I can use TomTom, Igo, Malsing, Mapking.....as long as you got the map, I can use it free. It's the satelite signal you're tapping which so far there's no control over it.
