Speedometer accuracy.

What are the factors that affect the speedo's accuracy? Tyres, rims? Tyre pressure? If the car is stock, is the meter accurate?

Yes it will be accurate...even a 1cm difference will at most make a less than 1% difference in your speedo reading...so dun worry.

depending on their mood, they might send you warning letter nia..

 

even 77kmh on 60kmh road..sometimes they send you warning letter instead of summon..

 

i pass by that stretch everyday..got once, by the time spotted the white bugger..i can't slow down in time to 70kmh and when i passed him, my speedo shows 80kmh..that's 2mths ago..didn't recieve anything until now..

I got the impression if inside KPE they are more ngeow.... anything above 75km/h is auto summon ....

I drove a couple of times on 80km/h all d way. Touch wood. Nothing happens yet.

Cool! If kenna please let us know. I'm trying to figure out what is the max allowable without getting a "love letter" from our "beloved" TP. So far I try to keep to 75 - 76 km/h... But it's quite difficult to overtake at that speed.

Its fairly accurate. I check mine against GPS (just that you gotta hold your speed for at least 3 sec....which means dun use the speed while you are speeding up) from 60/90/100/200kmh....all more or less there.

 

TP radar gun got give a 10% difference for speedo error. So dun worry....as long as you dun shoot pass 20kmh on the speed limit...you are safe.

Whenever i m in d tunnel, i drive wif cruise control. I will overtake whenever it is possible.

depends on the car. my dad's car is abt 3-5km/h higher than gps.

 

mine was more like 8% or so. until i upsize my tyres to oversize. the % inaccuracy decreased.

Its around there....but 8% kinda high.

 

Like I said, you gotta hold your speed steady...cos GPS need time to lock into your speed. I find 3 sec is about there.

I agree that Speedometer seems to read quite high. As compared with GPS, its like abt 5km/h higher..
