Dunno Neutral Newbie November 17, 2008 Share November 17, 2008 (edited) When the speakers got no sound, does the protection mode LED on the amp light up? You should be able to see it if the amp is under your seats. Don't know where to look for the LED? Check the manual, I also don't know where on the amp it is located. Eddy216 Neutral Newbie November 17, 2008 Share November 17, 2008 (edited) It may be your basstube is a passive basstube which still needs an external amplifier to drive it. I did a quick google on bazooka basstubes and this site shows the various models, here is an example. http://www.mobilcaraudio.com/catalog/item/317887/4946908.htm Edited November 17, 2008 by Eddy216
Kianbeng Clutched November 17, 2008 Share November 17, 2008 Thats the problem you normally get when you buy things from all over the place. Not that it's wrong, but just that everyone takes the chance to push the blame to others. Bridge or not bridge....is how you wire your speaker wires to your amp, which is what Eddy mentioned regarding 2ohms/4ohms thing. If you are keen and generally like technical things, you might want to do more reading online regarding this. I find it very interesting. I learnt everything from scratch. Maybe I should change my question to "Who did the wiring from the subwoofer to your amp?". I think you need to go back to him. Maybe you can show us some pictures on your setup. If you a hands on person, maybe you can even check whats printed on the back of your speakers inside the basstube? If you're not a hands on person, I always think it's a good idea to get the installer fix it. Sometimes I feel I learn things by paying installer to do it while I watch. It's like a live demo. Kianbeng Clutched November 17, 2008 Share November 17, 2008 Maybe connect the "speaker out" of the amp and connect to Active sub?

Luv_presea 1st Gear November 17, 2008 Author Share November 17, 2008 the sub was from my dad's friend.. he took it out of his car when he sold his car and gave it to my dad.. dad then gave to me lo.. went to shop and ask them what i need to power the sub.. the wiring from the amp they reuse.. so they just run a wire from the amp and then connect to the wire originally from the sub lo.. go see my reply to eddy regarding the model no. of the amp and sub.. i guess its bridged ba.. dare not to open it lei.. scared i spoil it.. tried opening up few other kind of things le and some spoilt.. so kinda hold myself back from opening up things now.. Kr_toy 1st Gear November 17, 2008 Share November 17, 2008 (edited) It depends on how big is your front speaker, but if you go bridged mode it should have enough power to drive your sub. However, if it is configured three channels then this may strain your amps and will go to protection mode often if you blast it. Check the amp spec for 3 channel config mode, if it does not have enough power, then it is better to have 2 amps. Eddy216 Neutral Newbie November 18, 2008 Share November 18, 2008 (edited) ok so your basstube is a passive one and it will need an amplifier to drive it, yeah and 4ohms too, so we can now strike out the problem of amp driving wrong load. speakers powered by your amp should be no problem at all and we can strike that out also. so now we have to consider looking at the possibility of amplifier being driven into "clipping", i.e: your amp is pumping out more power than it can provide continuously. Kianbeng and Sarong1 did mention that as a possiblity. Can you check the gain levels on your amp? Where is it pointing to? 10 o'clock, 1 o'clock, 4 o'clock? As your amp has 4 channels, you will find two sets of gain adjustment levers. Let us know both. Edit: can you also let us know your HU brand and model number? Need to know the low-level signal voltage (ala voltage from the RCAs) Edited November 18, 2008 by Eddy216

Luv_presea 1st Gear November 18, 2008 Author Share November 18, 2008 oh.. ic.. ok. think tml i'll snap a picture and check out the gain levels.. issit if set gain to too high might cause the amp to overwork? might go down shop to check if i'm free.. my HU is a panasonic cqc9800w.. this is the only info i can find on it.. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3008_P...CQ-C9800U.html#
