Tohto Hypersonic November 13, 2008 Share November 13, 2008 For Taipei, you can try Rainbow Hotel (3 Star). Hotel is located right inside 'Hsi Men Ting' and a few mins walk to MRT station. Do a search in site like Asiaroom.

Snowbell Neutral Newbie November 13, 2008 Share November 13, 2008 I guess because of the location and pricing. It is smack in the centre of XMD. Sometime during weekends, you may see Taiwanese idols performing or having events just outside the hotel.

Kianbeng Clutched November 13, 2008 Share November 13, 2008 For cheap hotels, there's plenty. But I find "Friends Hotel" quite good. They are franchisee operated. Each hotel is slightly named differently. ie, You you, You Mei, You Lai, ..... total 7 of them? Each of them have their own website I think? Honestly they are a bit like our Hotel81. No frills. But 1 thing good about them is that this is a business hotel. You can prebook their cars the previous day and they can arrange to send + pick you to many locations within the city. This is very very useful to me. Normally I book 1 way traffic to bring me to the further point I want to go (or some places not easily accessible by public transport), then I make my way back to the hotel at the end of the day. Breakfast is typical local taiwanese fare - porridge. But I find it's quite decent. PC at the lobby / restaurant is free to use.
Kianbeng Clutched November 13, 2008 Share November 13, 2008 Rainbow hotel, located at XiMenDing itself. Reasonable price and friendly service, Singaporeans' favourrite. Thats correct. Rainbow is Internet-savvy-Singaporean-favourite. But I strongly recommend if you must stay there....just stay 1 day. And look around. Then you'll realise the power of internet. Basically I feel....if the hotel is average but has alot of publicity, then the hotel owners are damn happy. Alot of bookings. But some hotels are very much better but they don't target the internet users.
Kianbeng Clutched November 13, 2008 Share November 13, 2008 Btw, me and my wife like to stay in different hotels or ie change hotels every day or every 2 days. This is so that you can walk around the vincinity. But of course this needs alot of planning due to check in and checkout. so sometimes it's not practical and we end up staying in same place for 3-4 days before going to another place.
