Driver123 Neutral Newbie June 9, 2009 Share June 9, 2009 Hi everyone, I am new here and I am considering to buy this Subaru Impreza 1.5R AT Car but would like to seek some opinion about this Car from the people here before taking the final decision. Many thanks in advance.
Ladykillerz 4th Gear June 9, 2009 Share June 9, 2009 As above. At $55,888 for a 2,000cc car, consider relatively affordable. In fact, many 1,600cc cars cant even match this price. Power wise, only 5 horses lesses than Civic 2,000cc, but torque is 8 Nm better Worth buying ? Any 2.0R drivers here ?? I personally test drive it and I feel like I am driving a 1.6L car. The reasons being, this ride is AWD and Boxer engine. Thus, the pickup is really lagging (that's the trademark for Subaru cars). But I believe after 80km/h, this ride will be much more stable. If pickup is important to you, you might want to consider Subaru cars with TC like the family WRX. At least it gives you abit more of the power. Go for a decent test drive and you will know what I am trying to imply. Happy car shopping~ Ladykillerz

Many thanks in advance. Hi Driver123, I personally test drive the Subaru Impreza 1.5R AT and also, the 1.5 manual. My frank opinion, if you want to get the 1.5L, get the manual one. The AT gives me a feel of a 1.0-1.3L car. At least with the manual transmission, you can control the drag. However, one thing to note, the manual gearbox seemed to be difficult to engage. I can understand that Subaru cars are kinda cheap and the rear red LED lights are really eye catching. But do take note of the pickup. Ultimately, if overall meets your expectation, just go for it!~ Till then, happy car shopping~ Ladykillerz Edited June 9, 2009 by Ladykillerz

Basically I am not the type of person who needs a powerful car. I just want a car that look exclusive and little sporty, and that's why this Subaru Impreza 1.5R AT catches my eyes. I may go for a test drive this weekend. Once again, I thank you. Andy (Driver123)

Ronnchee Clutched June 10, 2009 Author Share June 10, 2009 I didnt test drive the 1.6. I tried both 2.0 manual and auto. Auto cant make it, drive like 1.6. Manual 2.0 is fun to drive. During that time, it was only <$54k. But the boot space cant accommodate my barang.

Indeed that the boot space is rather small to be imagine.. and 2.0L Auto is really driven like a 1.6L car.. good that now there are two of us apprehend the truth.. I reckon Subaru is all down to Manual(sporty) kind. Sometimes it's hard to have everything inside a car. Price vs. Power vs. Looks vs. Comfort vs. Etc.... Always contradict one another... Mach Clutched June 10, 2009 Share June 10, 2009 Subarus' performance suffer from their AWD and old 4-spd auto transmission. Tested the Impreza S-GT after the Mk 5 Golf TSI, and even with 250 bhp vs the Golf's 170 bhp, there was clearly no fight.

Ladykillerz Currently I am driving a 1.6, wanted to upgrade to 2.0. What for buy a 2.0 car when the feeling is like driving a 1.6, when you are paying more road tax, insurance, etc. One thing good abt this 2.0R auto is that it comes with cruise ctrl. Anyway, MI stop bringing Hatch 2.0, and sgcarmart so far only 1 fellow selling it at >$58k.

Howdy Ronnchee, If you love cruise control, you can consider KIA Cerato Forte 2.0, it comes with cruise control too. I do use my cruise control and I find it very useful. But, of course, use it with awareness. Sometimes, lovely functions tend to make you forgotten that you are actually driving.. If you are into Subaru, you should appreciate the AWD and Boxer engine, you shouldn't mind the pickup.. However, do take a trip down to car showrooms and do decent test driving.. Who knows, you might end up getting another brand/model.. Happy car shopping~ Ladykillerz
Zze121 3rd Gear June 13, 2009 Share June 13, 2009 Subaru auto gear ratio on first 2 gear is for dragging, if drive like a normal car it will eat petrol, it's 3 gear have lesser power. Dragging on 2nd gear during pickup doesn't waste much petrol but rather dragging on 3rd gear. 2.0R in 3rd gear or 4 gear is lesser power in slope on expressway this also during to 1.36 ton weight. Driver123 Neutral Newbie June 17, 2009 Share June 17, 2009 I tested the 1.5R Auto last weekend. I found that the pickup is really slow and going up slope also dragging even I step hard on the accelerator, I dun know why? I tried other car this dun happen at all but when I shift to spotshift mode + or - gear its quite ok. Now why question is if using the + or - gear too often does it has any harm with the engine and also petrol consumption is higher is anot? I would appreciate any advise on this. Thanks and regards. Unclebond Neutral Newbie June 20, 2009 Share June 20, 2009 I am driving the 2.0S 5D Manual. The 150hp is great. Very powerful. Only a few K difference for 1.5 n 2.0. Go for the 2.0 . U won't regret. Overtaking is a breeze. [drivingcar]

U won't regret. Overtaking is a breeze. Nice and good looking 2.0 impreza...... Only subaru owners able to give genuine comment being good or bad..... IMHO, For warranty claim......its a very grey area on the stuff u are claiming. Seriously, If a less than 3years car need to claim many things before the warranty ends and owners having frequent visit to agent for retify problem....even if the claim can be fulfilled from AD.... is it still consider a good car??? Seriously....Those who never like Subaru...their comment is just a waste of space in this forum...... Edited June 24, 2009 by Lemonade78
