Scottycam Neutral Newbie November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 A friend went to BKK last weekend with Tiger Airways, return flite was at 6am. She went to the airport in the early morning only to find her return flite cancelled. No choice but to buy another return flite from another airlines and burnt her return flite on Tiger. When she got back to spore, she only found out the flite was cancelled at the very last minute by email only. Dont the airline ppl know not everyone will check their email when on holiday? What recourse can she take? How to publicise this matter? This thread also to remind u guys to check and dbl check ur flite itinerary properly. ↡ Advertisement
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 (edited) Your friend should have approached the airline staff for clarification and get them to make arrangement for alternative flight on other airline. I suppose what your friend could do now is to call the said airline up and work out a compensation plan with them. No need to publicize the matter if a settlement can be reached. Actually, having flight canceled or over booked are common...can be settled easily at the airport...just some inconvenience in the form of delays, etc... Usually airline will out you on their next flight, on other airline. If the next available is a long time away..they will provide accommodation and food. Scottycam Neutral Newbie November 5, 2008 Author Share November 5, 2008 Tiger counter was closed. If open, she could have made complaints there and then. Imagine reaching airport at 4 am and finding out ur flite is cancelled.
Allen 2nd Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 tiger airways is a budget airline, and budget airline is not governed under the warsar agreement like the full pledged airlines that has the olbigation to provide certain services stated in the agreement, that is the main diff and the reason for the price diff. thus they will not compensate u by putting u on another flight on other airlines. at most u will wait for the next flight and they will try to squeeze u in, there will be no compensation for hotel if the next flight is the next day. if u have purchase travel insurance, then got to claim compensation from insurance. if not, then suck thumb liao. Allen 2nd Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 ur fren shd have stay till the counter open and enquire abt her fully paid return tickets. as there are multiple flight daily o and from Bangkok to spore, surely they can arrange for a seat in one of the subsequent flight. and really no seat then ask for a refund for the return ticket. with the receipt of the refund, u can safely purchase another ticket from other airline and claim the diff between the two return tickets from the insurance co. Sabian Turbocharged November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 This is not the first time Tiger has this kind of incident, although Tiger & JetStar have pretty gd track record for budget airlines >90% on-time arrival. You tried Air Asia? Truly M'sia. If u fly budget, have to be prepared for such incidents. Cannot be helped. Pay banana, get...

This thread also to remind u guys to check and dbl check ur flite itinerary properly. had a bad experience with a online ticketing agent. flight was also cancelled last min with email, flight 7am, email came the day b4 5pm. luckily my gf happen to check mail the nite before and manage to spot it, the flight was changed to SQ at 9am. anyway since its sorta "upgrade" from UA to SQ in terms of price, we didnt find it really hard to swallow cos the flight time is not short, online ticketing agent claimed the staff was on maternity leave n couldnt get her to explain why isnt there a call instead. from now on, i make it a point to check email the nite b4 departure.
