Skanps Neutral Newbie November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 One fine night I told my 13yr old son that it is not legal to on the fog light but some people has no idea about this and though it looks cool to have them on. After that, my son told me his observation - almost 1 in every 20 cars have on their fog light.... That's way too common.
Sturtles 6th Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 That's a QQ ain't it? I've noticed many cars which turn on their rear fog lamps drives a QQ.. maybe there isn't a separate switch to turn on only the front fogs and leave the rear fogs off? I don't think there's a problem with front foglamps. Cuz they are definitely less bright compared to headlamps because of their reflector design. The rear foglamps though, will destroy your night vision if you are staring at the front car.
Doug Neutral Newbie November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 (edited) Totally agree...especially if its a single rear fog! Just makes the driver look stupid. Then when its super heavy rain like we have here from time to time, nobody wants to turn on their fog lights. Don't even get me started on people who drive in the rain with hazards on! Silver_blade Turbocharged November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 Most cars only have 1 rear fog lamp.
Knighthunter 4th Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 It's norm during heavy down pour to switch on hazard light when visibilty is very poor

Sturtles 6th Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 More like the latter Old self-righteous singers think because it was outlawed in the past, and indignant its now allowed, they complain and complain. End of the day, its probably the bad astigmatism caused them to see 8 light spots instead of the usual 4. Distracting indeed.
Zedzee 1st Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 (edited) it's norm but it's a bad habit. Shouldn't switch on hazard lights when its extreme bad weather cos it's misleading. Edited November 5, 2008 by Zedzee
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 Agree with you on this.
Doug Neutral Newbie November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 Hazards should not be used unless you are stationary, period! If you drive with hazards on in bad weather, nobody will be able to tell whether you are going to change lane! If you switch hazards on during bad weather, what are you trying to say to other motorists? That its raining heavily and you may not see me? Well, use your fogs for that purpose...that's what they are for. Indicators are for indicating direction!
Vtim 3rd Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 some model only have one swtich to activate both and rear fog lights.
Gbsm Neutral Newbie November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 Quote Fog lamps - irritating to the eyes for some, irritating to the heart for others.... HaHa...second part ur reply is absolutely true.. Any lamp if one see straight it irritates..moreover, Fog lamp is not pointed to the eyes...it is directed only at the very bottom for few meters.. Sturtles 6th Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 (edited) Poor design indeed, I'll be happy if the media helped to educate these driver rear-fogs loving folks Edited November 5, 2008 by Sturtles
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 (edited) Were you talking about long distance visibility or super short distance ones? Most of those installed in our cars are to help you see the area just in front of our car eg. road markings, etc. I have driven in relatively thick fog there before and it did help me see the road markings therefore in helping me to keep the car within lane and crawled to a safe area to stop and wait for the condition to improve. If you are talking about really, really thick fog...no amount of light is going to help. have to stop driving. Usually there will be a public warning via local radio/traffic info. Paddie 3rd Gear November 5, 2008 Share November 5, 2008 That's not true. There is no car which forces the driver to switch on both front and rear fog lamps at the same time. Even if there's only 1 physical switch to control, there will be 2 separate steps.
