Police car overturned at Siglap

Tue, Oct 28, 2008

AsiaOne

A police car crashed into some railing, damaged a bus stop, and flipped onto the fences of two houses on Monday.

As reported by Shin Min Daily, the accident happened at about 5pm at Frankel Avenue in the Siglap area. It was drizzling, and the driver lost control as he was cruising towards Changi road.

The supports on one side of the bus stop were knocked out, as was one of the bus stop seats. Parts of the railing ended up in the ditch.

The hood of the police car was totally smashed on the pavement, while the boot was balanced on the fence of one of the houses behind the bus stop. Part of the low wall surrounding the neighbouring house was also destroyed.

Shattered glass from the windscreen and some parts of the car were scattered on the pavement as well. Fortunately no passerbys were injured.

The driver, a policeman from Bedok Police Post, suffered mild injuries to his head and arm. He was not patrolling when the accident happened.

From the extent of the damage it appears that the car was travelling at high speed when it skidded.

Police are investigating the incident and urge any eye witnesses to call 1800-5471818 to contact the investigating personnel.

no lah... it's definitely not the policeman's fault...

he's not speeding lah

this is an evil decepticon who disguises himself as a police car, and in the midst of transforming into a robot, turned turtle because his joints are not greased properly...

And you are not slamming the papers when they mentioned he was cruising? In fact no one is slamming the policeman for somehow allowing the car to turn turtle when he is just cruising. Supposedlyl 50km/h since that is the max limit [sly]

i wonder how often they change tyres and go for servicing as their vehs are heavily utilise on a daily basis

Doubt it is as heavily utilized as Taxi. Anyway, car accidents involving policemen are still pretty low. I believe most of them won't want to risk their career by speeding around the neighbourhood...too high a stake [nod].

The police car confirmed driving faster than 50km/h as reported. The news paper trying to bluff 3 years old kids. The impact is so great that can lift the car till turn turtle.

I think the police wanted to try drifting or drift training just in case they need this skills to chase robbers.

If they drive fast is for good cause or to save life. [thumbsup] If we drive fast, we are speeding and endangered other road users. [thumbsdown]

Even the news paper dont dare to write anything bad about them. If write bad, their paper license will be gantung. [sweatdrop]

Frankel Avenue is a 2 lane road with a curve at the middle. Near the curve, there is also a gap for cars to turn right.

Mata chia must have taken the curve at high speed or swerved left to avoid a right turning car.

My speculation only.
