The workshop ask you to change the whole bumper so that they can earn more from the new bumper. They can re-con your existing bumper and use it on another accident car of the same make, earn one more round since no one can tell it's a re-con bumper if the job is well done. This way, owner happy cos get so-called new bumper, workshop lagi happy...

So now we all know where our increasing insurance premiums go to...to feed the workshops [furious]

Hi Bro,

Today when driving along still road with my pregnant wife, at the traffic junction with the traffic light showing red and my car completely stop. This SMRT cab just bump to my car. As it was raining heavy, when i go down, cant see any big dent. Ask the cab driver for his handphone number, he just say call his company if want to make claim. When back at home to check my car backside, see few tiny dent. Should i claim against him as the damage is not to obvious? What i not happy is his dangerous driving as my wife is in the car.

to be safe, ask your wife to go for a full check-up and claim against the taxi's insurance.

Go report and don't wait, whether your car's dent is small or not. Also, bring your wife for a medical check up and claim against his insurance.

Cab drivers are not your average joes on the road. They have tricks up their sleeves to protect themselves.I heard there is a point system or something on the number of accidents they encounter for a year.

My friend had a bad experience when he encountered a taxi reared his car on a slip road. The driver pleaded him to let go of the accident as he couldnt afford to be suspended by the cab company and he had a family of 5 to feed. Being a compassionate chap. my frd shook hands with the cab driver and drove all, cursing his own luck. My friend thought that afterall, it is about money and he could well afford the repair costs. On the other hand, if he report the case, the cab driver's life would be in a mess.

A few months later, my friend received a court Writ of Summons claimed by the cab driver against him. The cab driver lied that my friend's car reversed in car park and hit into his taxi. [furious]

all advice up here valid, key points is - since you are not in the wrong, due process will definitley protect you from any future funny stuff that the taxi driver may exploit the situation with.

speak to your insurance agency, bring your car down to the agent/workshop they recommend for a review (to confirm the limits of the damage).

AFAIK, all insurance coys have loss adjusters to estimate the cost of repair. A few scratches, change whole bumper. The insurance coys should make sure workshop do not inflate claims. Sadly, what I think is they just take the easy way out by charging motorists higher premiums due to the increasing cost of repairs - which they fail to keep low in the first place.

You should take back your old bumper.

Then sell it off 2nd hand in some forums.laugh.gif

There will be people looking for 2nd hand somehow.

That day my wify bump into a car at the AYE. Wify was the 4th car. 1st car duno why jam brake, so 2nd car kiss his back. 3rd car brake in time but 4th car(driven alone by wify) kiss the 3rd. 5th one manage to stop in time. [dizzy][dizzy][dizzy][dizzy][dizzy]

The 3rd car was a nice guy, firstly he says its ok, no need report, minor scratches nia. But we instist he go check on the repair. Later found out the bumper dent in, and closing bonnet was a problem. In the end replace the whole bumper and do some other small repairs, amounting to $600+. We paid the repair company and settle it once & for all. Sign a simple declaration form.

The funny thing is, we find him vey familar, then realise he was our home renovator for our house 10 years ago. [laugh] And i told him our doors he replace was spolit after only a few mths until now. And he will get it warrenty replace. Still earn back a bit. [nod][nod][nod]
