that time I was in US (San Jose) for 2 weeks training, wife and sis family join me near to the end of my 1st week training. So the 1st weekend I drove them to San Fran which is about 45mins drive.

After my course, I drove (about 9hrs) them down south to DisneyLand in Anaheim, Orange Count and spend 1 week there.

Neutral Newbie

I drove there last year before the petrol and toll increases. Before that, I used to drive there often alone with my wife or in a convoy. It is overall cheaper to drive than to take a bus there (for 2). I spent S$53 on toll charges (both ways) and another S$60 in petrol (I was driving a 15-year old Concerto then). But today, I'd rather pay the $100+ for the 16-seater bus as I feel safer and arrive there fresher. A word of caution though, keep your eye on your car at all times when you stop at the various rest/toilet areas. A friend of mine didn't and ended up having mud stuffed into his exhaust. Naturally, the tow truck appeared from nowhere and "volunteered" to have the car fixed. My friend paid over M$2000 for the "fix". This had happened to many others near Kajang. If you have one, bring along your GPS. Although I have been to Genting/KL countless times, there had been at times, I had been "lost".

All said and done, it is actually fun to drive north. Enjoy your trip.

1) Is driving up Genting with my wife safe?

only me and her. I drove up with a 15mth baby & 4 yr old girl. So u say safe or not ? [:p]

2) how much is the toll from 2nd Link straight to Genting? Doesnt really matter. As long as u keep a few hundred RM with u. [nod]

3) Is there landslide risk? I think so. But dont happen often. [:/]

4) I'll be driving a OPC car for the first time. Must i tear coupon in Malaysia? Confirm no need. But u do need to tear coupons while u are in spore soil, including the causeway spore side.

I know my questions can look ridiculous to the experts here.

But i need to assure my wife for point 1 and 3.

THanks!

Sometimes Sillyporean give themselves too much credit.

Imagine, there are 20 million Malaysians living in Malaysia. Is each and everyone struggling everyday with security?frown.gif

Of coz there are bad elements in every country. You just need to adjust to the situation accordingly.

lorry drivers also ah! [:p]

Cover up is the best policy in most places. At least you reduce danger in 1 aspect. [sly]

Me also thinking of driving up. Want to bring my kids to the theme park. But I wonder if I don't stay there, is there any place to park? Probably have to pay for parking.

The thing is....during long weekends it's always so jammed. But for shorter weekends, it's hard to plan. ie, probably friday night have to start driving so that you have 1 whole day of saturday for kids to play in the theme park. But driver will be very tired. Then stay overnight in some ??? hotels and sunday slowly drive back.

Whats your plan like?
