Miketow Neutral Newbie October 22, 2008 Share October 22, 2008 Hi, As above. For no reason! The phone is still under warranty, but general feeling is that Nokia does not cover repair cost of LCD cracking, even under warranty. However, I have heard of a few Nokia phone users who send back their Nokias to NCC and they changed the LCD (if under warranty) for free - but void the warranty after that? Is this true? Any bros here can help? Thanks ↡ Advertisement

Yrvsport 2nd Gear October 22, 2008 Share October 22, 2008 Yes LCD screen does not cover warranty..due to own fault...same as laptops...tell me which laptops brand cover the warranty as well...
Try_conti 2nd Gear October 22, 2008 Share October 22, 2008 well just i just got a replacement of the lcd for my 6500s for free under warranty. in my case, its not cracked. just that there are black lines running across the screen. hence clear cut case of dead pixels. Not too sure of your 'cracked' lcd though ....
Jacf Neutral Newbie October 22, 2008 Share October 22, 2008 do u mean that the LCD screen cracked by itself (not due to mis-handling like putting in pocket or dropping it)? but even if this is the case, i doubt Nokia will admit it and it will be hard for u to prove that it's cracked by itself. Check your warranty again and see if there's any specific clauses that said LCD screen is not covered.
Nicholas 5th Gear October 22, 2008 Share October 22, 2008 can try, my old n95 did sth like that, but they see no other damages where it's cause by my own negligence, thus repaired for free.
Miketow Neutral Newbie October 23, 2008 Author Share October 23, 2008 Thnks. Just came back from NCC. Nokia would not hear of any repair under warranty...b/c it is cracked...no matter who's fault. However, their quote for replacement is 80 - 100...which is cheaper then the Ah Beng Repair shops which average 120 - 170!
Try_conti 2nd Gear October 23, 2008 Share October 23, 2008 how could the lcd that's protected by the phone casing just crack like that ? Its understandable if exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations but in SG where got such things ? This is weird ! good thing I didn't get the N95 .... Acanthus Neutral Newbie October 23, 2008 Share October 23, 2008 I remember my 1st handphone - the Motorola startac 8200's LCD cracked when i let it on my room table. The phone was only 3 months old and Motorola duly denied any wty claims from me. I still can remember that stupid phone cost me close to 1.5k... Redplanet Clutched October 23, 2008 Share October 23, 2008 Sorry to hear about your case...I'm using N95 too, and I pretty much abuse it...dropping onto the floor a few times and "throwing" onto tables when i sit down...etc..rough handling in short. But, now still ok. Could be some of them slipped past QC... ↡ Advertisement
