Andrefoo Neutral Newbie November 5, 2010 Share November 5, 2010 If importing yourself, it won't be cheap because you need to get it at factory price or wholesale price to ensure a low OMV and hence low taxes and ARF. However, if there is enough interest, say, 5 or 6 people, I am sure some PI or other will be interested. It is also untrue that this is a low volume model. The current Mondeo is one of the best selling large family car in the UK. The problem in Singapore could be due to many other factors. Many spares will be in common with the 2010 Ecoboost that RM will bring in. Otherwise there is the Internet and Fedex or UPS. If possible, I would prefer the top range model with sunroof. Estimated retail price would be around $135k to $140k depending on the COE. If you compare the performance, fuel economy, space, and road handling it will beat many other more expensive cars. For example top speed is 247 kph. Also, if you go check its reliability ranking in the UK vs. many other well known European brands, you will be pleasantly surprised. I have another friend who is interested. If you, Andre, team up with us that will make 3. If we can total 5 or 6 I will talk to the PIs more seriously. In a way the PIs are protected. If RM can sell their 2010 model, then it is a sure bet that the PIs will sell the 2011 model. I'm definitely interested... my focus is coming to 5 next june and i always wanted a mondeo for a replacement. Convenient to PM me your number and I'll be glad to get in touch with you. ↡ Advertisement
Axela72 5th Gear November 5, 2010 Share November 5, 2010 Wow, if COE by then is below 10k, isnt that mean the cost of the car is less than 100k? This would be likely my next ride if that is case.

Andrefoo Neutral Newbie November 5, 2010 Share November 5, 2010 today went down to RM to see the Kuga and the SM told me the mondeo ecoboost be arrv ard feb 2011 but they taking order now at 129k!titanium specs!!!as for the kuga,it drove and rode very well! time to visit RM again to see whether they will really take care of their existing owners. But rumours have it that its not the 237bhp version that i'm interested in, rather it'll be the 203bhp one.
Tipo33 Neutral Newbie November 5, 2010 Share November 5, 2010 it be the 200BHP version!the SM says they cant order this 230bhp version yet as there is some stuff to sort out with Ford but most prob be a chip upgrade with a few extra parts to change.it will be cheaper that way rather than order a new spec car! well we will know it ard feb 2011.smax and galaxy be end dec if correct so u can try it by then! Tbt001 1st Gear November 5, 2010 Share November 5, 2010 I have asked RM many times, even before they confirmed that they are bringing in the EcoBoost version - the reply as far as I know is that it will be the 2010 200 bhp (203 ps) version. I cannot understand why they would bring in a 2010 car in Feb 2011. So, what's the diff? Visit the link below to see and whet your appetite: http://www.carsuk.net/2011-ford-mondeo-debuts-video/ You may notice that the price difference could be less than GBP 1000. Also, the sunroof that I prefer is an extra GBP 525 (perhaps SGD 2500 incl the ARF and taxes). Yet RM keeps telling me, nobody would want to pay so much extra. Really? What do you guys think? This is how I got my estimate: 2010 version: 129k add 2011 version extra: 4k add sunroof: 3k Target Total: 135k to 140k depending on COE. Don't forget that the PI can usually do it cheaper than the official agents. Tipo33 - we have 3 in our "club". Looking for 2 to 3 more. Interested? Tipo33 Neutral Newbie November 5, 2010 Share November 5, 2010 HMMMM quite true with what u have written but i guess its RM's call as i know the SM very well.so if he says that the costing is a bit different i gave them the benefit!but i am more into hatches than saloon.drove the 2.3 before and i found it a bit too big for my liking thou the ride once again is excellent!but if my friends are int well ask them to reply to u guys! Miles 4th Gear November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 Thank you Tipo. If you find anyone interested, please post here or PM me on this site. Dont forget, PI needs toput the new higher spec car through homologation ..... and it will cost more for the first time. Unless LTA can use the homologation of Regent as the standard and waive off the need for homologation again.
Tbt001 1st Gear November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 Will homologation be difficult for a very standard car that is popularly sold in the UK? Even if it is a barrier to cross, the incentive for the PI will be great. He will have a base order from us; he will be selling a better car than RM (for perhaps nearly the same price); and the car may turn out to be a huge winner like the some of the Toyota and Honda models, where the PI stole a big lead over the agents. Cjkannan Neutral Newbie November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 I am looking to buy a Mondeo, should i wait for the ecoboost to arrive ( pay another 10 k more) or the current model is good enough ? In fact i am also looking at insignia.

Convenient to PM me your number and I'll be glad to get in touch with you. If I remember correctly, during the time u bought yr focus, the price is around 60K. This time u are going for a car at more than twice the previous amount. Instead going for the cheaper 200hps, u want the 247hps instead. Seem like your salary increased by more than 2 fold during the financial crisis period. How u managed that?
Tbt001 1st Gear November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 Hi CJKannan The current Mondeo (2009) in the showroom will be the cheapest buy. You should bargain very hard because they have to clear all their stock before the 2010 Ecoboost model arrives early next year. The Insignia is a very nice car but it is priced a bit on the high side. I also find (being on the tall side) the rear seats a bit crampy. For me, my preference is the 2011 Ecoboost (preferably with sunroof) which I estimate to cost lower than the Insignia, even if RM imports it. If I can persuade a PI to bring some in, and we can come together to order 5 or 6 at one time it should cost nearly the same or only slightly more than the 2010 model from RM. We have 3 so far in our "club". Would you be interested? Budget should be at most $140k at current COE prices. I am hopeful for just above $130k if without sunroof. Eyke Supercharged November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 If I can persuade a PI to bring some in, and we can come together to order 5 or 6 at one time it should cost nearly the same or only slightly more than the 2010 model from RM. keep in mind that the Ecoboost is new tech, ie. turbo-charged direct-injection, so if anything goes wrong, if PI workshops can't solve and if RM doesn't want to help, then
Tbt001 1st Gear November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 (edited) Turbo-charged direct injection engine is new to the Mondeo but is not so new as a tech. Ford has also been selling these engines to Volvo. See specs for S60 and S80 2.0T version. There should be enough people who knows about this. In any case, the worse that can happen is to change a new turbo unit. Hence no need to be so kia-su. Edited November 6, 2010 by Tbt001
