Ford Mondeo

Problem is there is no other place that sell Mondeo. That is why I check here whether is there any parallel importer that carry it.

My target is to fork out additonal 15k but not 50k on top of the cost price.

Not sure if you can fork out additional $15k above the cost price.

Used to be able to back when COE for CAT B was in the low teens.

The other option is volume make such as Toyota. Selling more cars mean lower revenue per car to make up for the shortfall. Whack the OMV into spreadsheet and compute. Share with us your findings :-)

End of the day, I think parallel import would be cheaper with their lower advertising, facilities and other expenses.

Anyone driving the new Ford Mondeo?

In terms of specs, I think it's probably most bang for buck in it's class

2L 4 cylinder TC

237 bhp

345 Nm

The specs can compare to a GTI

Even the pre-facelift already come with Ecoboost.

However, there are recall on the ecoboost engine due to safety issue. Search the web for more info.

Nevertheless, the Eco boost life span seem short. fFom the latest new, it seem like this engine going to be up the lorry by 2016 and replaced by another new type of engine.

Hmmmm, sounds like a good wait for the new engine to come out 😄👍

What a shame, cause the specs is really good.

What took them so long to bring in man.. Sleeping la this management.. This model already flooded USA streets like 1yr plus back liao.

If they want to compete with at least honda/kia/hyundai, not bmw mercs obviously.. Then they better wake up and update their models fast la.

This car is actually quite nice cause i rented it in USA..

I think FORD only came out with the RHD recently... The Mondeo only launches in the UK recently

Production was moved from Belgium to Spain at the start of the financial crisis - Spain is cheaper to make. Deliveries of Euro spec cars just started.

The 4dr I think is available now but the 5dr around end of March.

SA told me price is about S$162k so is fair but there are some good promo out now before CNY. Volvo V60, A4 and Mazda 6 all around S$150k. For the size of the car, it's bigger than them all but S$10-12k is quite a bit for a model with lower re-sale.

We can't just compare with the price quote. Need to also include the OMV value. Ford has the lowest OMV value. Their profit margin might be higher than the others if the cost price is lesser (OMV etc).

The new Mondeo's OMV is close to $29k so that puts it higher than them all, even a Passat and right next to the base model A4.

I think over a 5-10yr period it works out similar.

This is a good replacement for my Passat. Better specs, same or better spacious and comfort. But if priced higher than base model A4, can't see many buyers for it

Regent Motor always price their car very high even though OMV are not high.

Yes agreed, I have always been keen to get a Ford, but the pricing and SE attitude put me off each time when I stepped in. Not sure is it the big time AD mentality, as Regent is part of the Sime D* group.

I noted that the pricing will be better when they are clearing stock for a model. Like last year when they cleared the Focus.
