Ford Mondeo

Hi Cjkannan, any further interest in the 2011 New Ecoboost Mondeo? I was talking to the RM agent and trying to persuade her to ask her boss again to bring it in. She indicated that that may happen in the later half of 2011. This is when 2011 is almost over! *Sigh!! **

Hey Parallel Importers, any of you interested?

You may notice that the 2011 Ecoboost uses a superior engine to the current Volvo S60 and S80. These uses the 2010 Ecoboost engine. The engine is also comparable to the VW and Audi equivalent models. Somehow the Japanese seems to be lagging behind in this current race.

However, interestingly the best selling Korean may have something up their sleeves but nothing for Singapore yet - only in the USA.

Ford UK has stated that the 240 ps EcoBoost Mondeo will be available from early 2011.

This was in a reply I received from them. They are also selling tax-free export models.

Officially they have announced that the price will be only slightly higher than the 2010

203 ps version.

Mondeo 2011 ...... where did you guys get the ideal that the 205ps & 240 ps engines are different? I thought only the turbo pressure on the latter is higher but then again I am no Ford fan. The other interesting addition is the 6-sp power shift with a dual clutch. However it appears that there will not be any paddle shift for this model. I may again be off here. The car should be arriving to our shore soon.

Yes, the 2010 EcoBoost 203 ps engine and the 2011 240 ps engine are essentially the same. But the 2011 version has 37 ps extra!

IMHO this series of engines is the best Ford has developed for a long time and could create a real change in their popularity (if they can get the rest of the car right).

It is certainly selling very well in Europe.

The reason why I favour it over many other equivalent models is its superior value-for-money.

Priced ard 148k, omv 25k

That is cheaper than Insignia and Passat CC.Will testdrive it soon.

The old Mondeo is a little underpowered to handle such a big body.Hope the Ecoboost will be more nimble.

The Volvo S60 2.0T has an engine that is the mechanical clone of the Ecoboost for those who are interested to get a feel of the linearity.

Supercharged

did a quick drive and it feels and handles really great,

definitely better than the S60.

however, i couldn't get the seat low enough using the electric controls,

didn't ask whether it could be done though,

and sound insulation not that great: could hear some engine/transmission whine.

S60 has a more luxurious interior and smoother ride.

so if you like a good drive -> Mondeo,

but for comfort -> S60 but at ~$24K more.

i tested the new mondeo yesterday.

the engine power is good, in my opinion, it is more than enough for this car.

it is responsive and 0-140kmh is real quick. car feels stable during this short sprint test.

im still considering...price is 145k(guaranteed coe-6bids), after the usual discount..i'm sure still can negotiate a bit more.

In Titanium specs?I feel it looks better than S60 and is better value for money.

I will find time to test-drive it and compare it with Insignia.

I was attracted to Mondeo partly because of James Bond driving it in "Casino Royale".Since I cannot afford an Aston Martin,Ford Mondeo will do fine.

i prefer the Insignia design, both interior and exterior, also quite an easy car to drive, despite the size. but i am more inclined to performance, handling and power...n i think mondeo has it better.

wish i'm richer, then don have to think too much...just get the M3 or at least the 325.
