Squeaking is probably due to the rubber seals that are drying up, not the doors themselves. Abit of lubrication is sufficient to stop the squeaking. Nothing to do with weight as suggested by a school boy here.

well....what does a kid know abt lubrication [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

My Focus also squeaks. I think it's not need more reinforcing, it's too much reinforcing...plastics too hard n unyielding n squeak as they settle into metal structures as it ages.

Since here is talking abt Mondeo, i'm looking for a family sedan and happen to realise that Mondeo is one of the cheapest 2.0L conti sedan in the 2nd hand market now that suit my budget, I had riven the same the model back in UK during my studies there and love the car. But have been hearing scary stories abt the reliability and support of the car in Singapore. What do u guys think ? issit worth while getting a 3-4yrs old Mondeo 2.0L ?? No offense to Mondeo owners here .. but would like to listen to truth from owners here.

new Mondy released in the UK. Some colours look new and absolutely fresh compared to the old stoic colours. Think the white makes it look the best, although parkside and ink blue also look quite good. Can't wait for it to come, but hopefully it'll be priced right, otherwise its just the jetta for me :)

The new Mondeo Ecoboost 2011 will come with a 237 bhp engine. This turbocharged 2.0 litre power unit will accelerate the car from 0 to 100 kph in about 7.5 s and yet give an estimated 13 km/l. Unfortunately RM is only bringing in the 200 bhp 2010 model.

Are there any parallel importers reading this?

actually don't mind importing myself.. but dun realli know whether the cost will be cheaper... furthermore, if i'm the only one with the 237bhp engine, i wonder whether i can find spares for it....

If importing yourself, it won't be cheap because you need to get it at factory price or wholesale price to ensure a low OMV and hence low taxes and ARF. However, if there is enough interest, say, 5 or 6 people, I am sure some PI or other will be interested.

It is also untrue that this is a low volume model. The current Mondeo is one of the best selling large family car in the UK. The problem in Singapore could be due to many other factors.

Many spares will be in common with the 2010 Ecoboost that RM will bring in. Otherwise there is the Internet and Fedex or UPS.

If possible, I would prefer the top range model with sunroof. Estimated retail price would be around $135k to $140k depending on the COE.

If you compare the performance, fuel economy, space, and road handling it will beat many other more expensive cars. For example top speed is 247 kph. Also, if you go check its reliability ranking in the UK vs. many other well known European brands, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I have another friend who is interested. If you, Andre, team up with us that will make 3. If we can total 5 or 6 I will talk to the PIs more seriously. In a way the PIs are protected. If RM can sell their 2010 model, then it is a sure bet that the PIs will sell the 2011 model.
