What happen to Rover now ?

It's a bit complicated.

- 'Rover' brand was retained by BMW and was sold to Ford together with Land Rover (which is owned by TATA, together with Jag). BMW retain the 'Mini' brand.

- SAIC bought some of Rover's intellectual property eg. Rover 45 and Rover 75. It is now marketed as Roewe 75.

- Nanjing Auto Group bought over the MG division of Rover (MG brand and cars) and are now going to start building some old model at Longbridge, UK.

I'm not sure who owns other former Rover brands such as Triumph, Austin-Healey, Riley, etc tho. Maybe BMW?

My last association with Rover were a beat-up Austin Maestro (sold by Rover) which I used for less than a year (in the UK) and the Rover45 which I used for under a year & sold at zero loss.

I find the problem with Rover is it's image. Too ah peh. [shakehead][shakehead]

Years back,It was a poor man luxury car.

Agreed, esp the Rover 75,2.5v6,which wins alot of award in year 1999-2001...beating the Jaguar S-type hands down.

it was a premium value car especially the 820. the leather seats were luxurious

Oh yes,the interior smell like Jaguar....but the 1st few batches[under BMW] of the 75 is better[Oxford build]1999-2001,the later batches[2002 onwards] are costs cutting ones....actually i missed my 75... [bigcry]
