Given the price, how much should I bargain this to?

this is very value for money if its road worthy (meaning reliable).

 

Personally, i sat in it once in malaysia. Its ULTRA spacious

 

spacious until i feel a bit scared.

It a 1997 model, renewed COE last year.

That might contribute to the price.

My uncle interested in getting it but road tax for COE car is quite high.

Futhermore unknown of the consumption and maintenance.

For road tax, the 15% decrement recently certainly helps offset a little.

 

if ur uncle is comfortable with 5-8km/litre, this car really can consider.

 

depends on usage.

 

if everyday to tuas and back, no point.

 

if mostly short trips + occasional long trips to malaysia = YES!

He's considering to get this and convert to OPC. At least will offset the high road tax.

Will LTA give any rebates other than road tax?

He uses only in weekends and after office hours but not to work.

How much should he bargain?

Start with 10% first aka 2,980. Don't buy on the spot. This car is not a popular car to sell, so most probably they'll be more eager to offload it given the economic and fuel price situation.

 

also note that u should not focus on getting monetary discount.

 

Rather, ask for tyres change (they sure have better used tyres), free polishing/interior grooming etc. My friend even had color changed before when he bought 12k COE civic.

 

converting OPC is possible, perhaps ask the dealer to handle it for u?

 

u'll ONLY get road tax rebate since this car was initially registered as normal car.

The recent cut in road tax is good, but for such a big CC COR car, it will eventually becoming expensive eg.Road tax will increase by a max of +50% on the 5th year.

Ahh the good old egg-shaped "Kinder Surprise" Estima a.k.a. Emina a.k.a Previa a.k.a. Lucida.

 

I remember the Supercharged versions were hotcakes and there still some in Malaysia.

You'll have to take note of the road tax. It will continue to increase 10% every year till it hit 150% of the normal 2.4L road tax.

 

And this earlier estima still has the engine or gearbox under the front seats. Have seen one being serviced, and it can be really messy in the cabin.

 

You'll be better off with a new offpeak APV.

agree wif e maintenance of tis vehicle. chge oil & SP muz also take out front seat,super layzhe. But comparing APV wif emina.......i drop e idea of driving a APV converted from van anytime.
