You can try looking around for those travel systems. Easy to load in and out of car. But of course you would need to get a kiddie car seat once your baby grows bigger.

A long time ago.. me went to select stroller.. like do tender evaluation for multi million dollar tender.

Final answer is Aprica.

Benefits:

When folded, is a square and can stand upright by itself.

Light weight compared to the MPV like GRACO.

Is reversible, baby can face pusher or forward.

Front leg each 2 wheels, best for off-road.

The handle bar is height adjustable, ideal for tall/short couples.

Very durable.

Recently went to Japan, noticed they all using the 4 wheel steering model. All 4 wheels can swivel, allowing for tight cornering and drifting.

If only they make stroller like shopping cart, can also carry groceries.

Depend of your budget and how you intend to use it.

I've 3 (bought over a period of time):- Quinny Zapp, Quinny Buzz and Stokke Xplory

1) Quinny Zapp - Light weight, compact when folded (can fit into plane overhead compartment), good for travelling.

2) Quinny Buzz - Stable, good for uneven surfaces (not for serious off road), it's bulky but good for a in between comfort mall use and serious off road use. Rear tyres are can be infalted at petrol kiosk.

Sorry, I just saw your budget.

Actually the Quinny Zapp probably fit or exceed a little over your budget. For infant, you can fit a MaxiCosi infant car seat onto the pram body and convert it back when your child is older.

A lot depend on what you want in a pram and your lifestyle.

I, too, didn't want to spend too much in a pram initially (thats why I bought the Zapp' Buzz for in-law). So far, the Stokke is the best...cos it can be both front/rear-facing, height fully adjustable (high to be closer to you; don't have to bend to tend to the baby), use as a high chair when you eat out, etc.

After all these prams. I've come to a conclusion that I should have spend more for the one that suit me best, instead of trying to save ( in the end spend more).

But I think the best is still to use a slings. Light, close to baby, good for the back (when use right), relatively cheap, hands-free, versatile, baby/child like this best, etc...

actually depends on individual.for me...its lucky dat i get a cheap pram.cos after 3 mths, my baby don't wanna sit in de pram.she prefers to b carried.so got a baby carrier.imagine buying a $1k pram n use it only for 3mths??

so...i would suggest dat u don get too expensive one.who knows ur baby wont like to b in de pram for too long.but for de 1st 1-3mths, de baby don know how to b demanding...so can put inside pram n let baby sleep... [laugh]

after dat...start looking for a comfortable n durable baby carrier or sling.

Congrats, bro! [thumbsup]

Get one which is easy to fold/unfold and invest in a good solid one. Nowadays so many choices and are better made than those from 10 years ago. Take your time to choose and the above recommendations are [thumbsup]
