Ika_tomas 1st Gear November 5, 2020 Share November 5, 2020 Hi All. Am looking hard at the new 2020 Suzuki Swift Hybrid 1.2 RS. Any thoughts or Feedback from the community here? Will be much appreciated. Primarily a solo driver car (Driver is 1.8m, 85KG). Daily commute ~ 95-100km. Have sat in the display unit and sizing and ergonomics are excellent. On par with my current Honda.

Expand Having test driven the Swift Hybrid (1.7m), the leg room space not enough for me personally as I'm a laid back driver. Exterior looks nice, interior quite cramp especially for back row passengers. Pick up is smooth but lacking in the final drive. 7 Speed CVT with Paddle Shifters for more fun during driving. Price wise, I'd look at either Toyota Raize 1.0 Turbo, saves petrol and road tax cheap or Honda Shuttle Petrol, fuel consumption on par with Swift Hybrid considering the overall weight of the passengers. Overall, the quality of the car body is quite cheap. Doors are also very light. My 10 cents.

The new 2020 Fit Hybrid is likely to be 15k more than the Swift. Handling. Just test drove the Petrol Swift. Handling is light years better than the Jazz/Fit. And this is coming from someone who drove Jazz/Fit exclusively for a decade and still loves them. Brakes. Swift has 4 disc brakes, vs 2 disc/2 drum for the Jazz/Fit. Looking at pricing, I think you get more car for your buck with the Swift. Edited November 6, 2020 by Ika_tomas

Expand I was excited that Raize was coming to SG back in February and actually went to the showroom to view it the moment it landed. But it was quite disappointing for me. Other than the good looks, the driver's view is actually quite narrow (small windscreen) making you feel like you are in a tiny car. To addon, the vibration during idling is constantly nagging through the steering wheel and seats. So to me, price wise I don't feel like it's worth it other than the cheap road tax. However, with the SUV trend, people definitely will disagree with me. On 11/6/2020 at 12:19 AM, Ika_tomas said: Price. The new 2020 Fit Hybrid is likely to be 15k more than the Swift. Handling. Expand If you are looking at 2020 Fit Petrol, it's 4 disc brakes as well, because it comes with electric handbrake and brakehold. And there is a Sensing model. Only sat in the new swift before, never test drive. definitely very sporty cockpit and driver centric design. Can't comment on the handling for new swift, but having driven the 2nd gen swift for a full year, there is no obvious advantage in the handling on SG road conditions. Given the low take up rate of 2nd gen swift, i was always faced with higher parts cost compared to other common jap cars. and the interior space is really cmi. But yes, swift is definitely a fun car to own and drive if you have no other commitments to consider. Btw, in Japan, the new swift no longer comes in 1.0T, they switch back to NA engine.

Expand That's interesting to hear coming from a long time Fit driver and lover :) Don't forget the disgusting 2 airbags of the fit, compared to what I understand to be 6 for the swift. I did a quick search for the PI with ready stock on sgcarmart and the prices for both are slightly above $80k leh for 4 bid G... I tried to do a Google search for reviews of the two hybrids, but found this insightful read instead: https://www.drivelife.co.nz/2020/10/2020-suzuki-swift-hybrid-vs-toyota-yaris-hybrid-car-review-head-to-head/ Which reminds me, I hear from my SE that BM's yaris is coming in Dec! Ika_tomas 1st Gear November 6, 2020 Share November 6, 2020 Do not think the 2020 Fit Hybrid is in SG yet? Everything I've gossiped with the PI's seems to point to 90K ish You're "probably?" looking at https://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_overview.php?CarCode=11571 which is the older model. Oooo. Thats a good read. Interesting.
