Jacf Neutral Newbie October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 no wonder Singapore is a 'fine' city... first time heard that dozing off on park bench can get fine! i can understand if the fine is for vandalism of the bench but for sleeping? NParks might as well privatised all the Parks and charge entrance fees.. since they already start charging car park users.. I think maybe accidentally walk on some grass patch in the park is an offence too. cos step on grass is consider vandalism, huh?

Osiris 1st Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 (edited) The whole thing is ridiculous. First, We do not get an education on our rights. I believe in the US, your legal rights/basic laws are taught in school. So the regime is still using the old strategic of keeping the masses ignorant to be high-handed? If you don't spell out clearly, people are afraid to try things. u keep them 'domesticated' 2nd If going by this arrest, if 1 bring his family out to the park, the 6 yr old son run about for 1 hr and feels tired, sleep on the park bench while the rest of us is having some snack on the grass, he can be issued a summon for abused? 3rd, If rules/laws like the park are applied to other scenarios. ie list down some rules and use disclaimer to say not exhaustive, then how do we know if we committed a crime. Apply this to traffic rules. what we learn in basic/advance is only partial and TP has other hidden rules. We will get caught for not signalling long enough, change lane, brake too fast/slow, or anything at the whim of the TP. car polished too shiny, hazadous to other road user? Window too dirty, not safe to drive? unlock your car and the disarm beep is consider too loud for TP = summon for disturbing the peace? if like that. As long as your car is an eyesore to TP, he will find fault and summon you? Why don't they spell it out clearly. I have my suspicion that the national parks are managed by park locals (monkeys) and being paid (600k) peanuts? I do appreciate if the no sleeping rules apply to vagrants living in the vicinity but not for park user taking a short nap. Oh guys, go east coast beach don't fall asleep when sun tanning on the beach hor, it's abusive. Edited October 14, 2008 by Osiris
David Clutched October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 Have you heard about being woken up for sleeping(though) in a sitting position in a shopping mall? It happened to me on a September in 2003 in Las Vegas. My wife was browsing in a shop when I found a empty bench in front. I sat down and very soon my heard was falling off my neck. Shortly a security guard in uniform from the mall came along and woke me up(when someone wake you up from a wink, it would seem abrupt no matter what), "No sleeping here" came like a thunder. I make a feeble protest that I am a foreigner visiting and my wife is in the shop. I did not bother to reason with him cos I know 1)he's much bigger size than me 2)once you argue with them, they can call, and they have the supoort of, the black-and-white. OK. I get up and went into the empty shop my wife was still browsing and found myself sitting next to a manequin. Coming back to the above report, the man was found lying down on the bench sleeping, thus he would have deprived other park-user the facilities. It does not matter if there are or not other park-users then, there must ne a common rule. And beside the man as reported, there were others who were also caught sleeping. This morning on the road I heard Maggie on this topic, but she omitted the thing that the man was found lying down sleeping which makes him occupying the whole seat. She was harping 'mad' why is it not allowed to in the park when it is allowed in the MRT. I think Maggie is barking up at the wrong tree. Did MRT says it is allow? How many have the NP caught ppl lying down sleeping to make it sound ridiculous? Surely there must have been some public complain that the NP ranger take action. Kusje Supersonic October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 dun really understand their mentality.. my frd who juz had operation a few month ago met a damn bad carpark aunties. He was the last person as he was limping all his way to retrieve his car and wave to the auntie that he is here. the auntie told him that his car veh no is already keyed into the system and cannot be changed which in actual fact that did not happen as he saw her keying slowly into the handhled system. My frd was furious and lashed out at the auntie for taking advantage of this disability to summon him where she can also summon other drivers. reali inconsiderate Disabled doesn't mean you can break the law. Rickster 5th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 F*ck.... not sure is there any hidden sh*t of rules and regulation stated that i cannot fall asleep on a smrt bus, mrt or lrt hor.... Technically speaking, yes u can be finded. Becos they can use this against u - exahustive use of resources that will cause discomfort & inconvenice of other users.
