Pachelbel 1st Gear November 14, 2008 Share November 14, 2008 My ride is now 3 yrs old. Some rattling sounds from the cabin/engine compartment. Anyone know where the common source of rattling noise comes from? The suspension now sounds like a cheap, old car when going over rough surface (especially those pebbles surface they made when entering carpark). Any suggestions? Route Clutched November 15, 2008 Share November 15, 2008 best to have it checked :) my last rattling sound turns out to be screws in the glove box that my dad left...
Rainbow 1st Gear November 21, 2008 Author Share November 21, 2008 anyone installed strut bar on your sirion? where to get?
macrosszero Turbocharged November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 As Myvi and Sirion are rather similar, you can try Ultra Racing's to see if it fits?
Route Clutched November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 i was told by speedworks jb that the bars wont work for the sirion due to a slightly difference in design of the engine bay? not very sure, did not try it myself as i feel handling is good enough after lowering
Kangadrool Supersonic November 22, 2008 Share November 22, 2008 Get HotBits adjustable from Speedworks SG, about 80 bucks only, self-installation. Forget about UR. Though one-piece design which should be stiffer, it's blocking the fuse box. Thus making maintenance a pain. There are also some feedbacks on knocking sound due probably to poor design. Accordvtec 1st Gear November 23, 2008 Share November 23, 2008 Hi, I'm thinking to getting a OPC Sirion 1.3A. went down to their road show at Marine Parade today but was quite disappointed. There is only 1 salesperson there and he's busy reading newspapers and simply bo chap . The ... HU for 1.5 sports a quite different from what I saw in the pictures. Anyway, does anyone have a good SE to recommend ? Thanks ! I can help you with that. pm to discuss. Can give further discount/freebies so that you wont be short-changed. Kangadrool Supersonic November 23, 2008 Share November 23, 2008 (edited) Try this link: http://myvi.com.my/forum/index.php?topic=3093.0%3C/ Yes, it's blocked. That's why adjustable type is highly recommended. You don't want to dismantle so many things just to do simple maintenance like changing of fuse for example. Unlike those sedans (Sunny and Lancer, etc) with long nose, Sirion is very compact with very short snout. The suspension tower is just below the wipers' cover. Before you even begin, spray some WD40 on four tower nuts. Find a quiet, bright, even level spot, but under shelter, preferably on MSCP. Budget at least 1 to 1.5 hour for this simple job if you are not a pro (mechanic, technician or hardcore DIY person by profession). Steps: 1. Remove wipers. You need to remove nut covers first. Then, remove nuts to get the wiper arms out. 2. Peer under the wiper cover. You will see a number of plastic clips. Remove these clips using long nose plier. 3. Lift up wiper cover. 4. Unscrew 4 tower nuts using rachet/socket wrench. DO NOT use open end spanner. 5. Put in your strut bar. 6. Screw down 4 nuts. 7. Use alternate, criss-cross method to tighten 4 nuts, until they cannot move anymore. 8. Tighten bolts and nuts connecting to the brackets both ends using 2 same size close end spanners or wrench. (1 to hold and 1 to tighten). You must tighten until it (the other nut) cannot move further with just 1 wrench. 9. Reverse the procedure to assemble back the wiper cover & wipers. For removal of bar in future for general maintenance, just remove the bolt and nut connected to the brackets. There is no need to remove tower nuts anymore. After installation, you will feel noticeable difference in handling in your first corner. Have fun. For those who are more sensitive, you will hear more and louder thumping sounds when going over uneven surfaces. Proof that the chassis is strengthened. Kangadrool Supersonic November 24, 2008 Share November 24, 2008 Mine is the standard Sirion, not even the Sports version. Only mods is front strut bar and rear lower arm bar. All mods to improve handling, not cosmetic. Just removed the 4-point front lower arm bar recently (due to poor design - knocking against exhaust pipe). Can still meet for kopi. Can show u how to install your upper strut bar too. PM me. Next planned mods - CAI and VS.
