Roh96 6th Gear October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 I'm thinking of lowering my stream and would like to seek some advise which after market suspension is better. I seldom do hard cornering so is mainly to enhance the look of the car. Any advise is much appreciated. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Apollo 1st Gear October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 not just suspension must check if affect ur tieyar and need camber kit anot. go upside the rims n switch to low profile will do more justice. but be warn, anything outside the car does not belong to you. Dafansu Turbocharged October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 stream is a mpv, if lower and full load wont the whole car sink down
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 Bro, if you jus wanna enhance the look of your ride, maybe you can consider jus going for lowering springs but using back your stock shocks If you want a firmer ride then add on the aftermarket shocks If damn hardcore then go for the coilover Once you lowered, gonna install a camber kit/nut for your negative camber then go for an alignment Aftermarket springs should set you back say 400-500 inclusive installation while aftermarket shocks & springs/coilover should set you back more than 1K Alignment plus camber kit/nut should be around another
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 I ever saw 2 vehicles in my MSCP kena this scenario
Anakusop Clutched October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 (edited) if on coilover wont sink down.... surely abit have lar but not dat noticeable... am on tein coilover.... very good n very nice!! but comfort is sacrificed of course.... forgot to add my ride is wish..... Celicar Turbocharged October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 I put on TRD lowering spring for my ride, the drop in height not very significant, so if really want the fierce look, I think must go for coilover. Would changing my shocks possibly make the ride go lower?
Yc86 Clutched October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 It would be better if you could get a matched set of absorbers with springs. Changing the spring alone to a lowering one may shorten the life of your stock ones. Of course coilovers would be ideal, but with the sacrifice of comfort.. esp if you have young ones in the car. air susp is another way to go... depends on how much $$ you can spend. That really gives the VIP look.. heh
Yc86 Clutched October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 um.. shouldn't he use to camber kit/nut to increase the camber back to 0? For a better and more even wear on the tyres, since he doesn't plan to corner much. Lowering the car naturally adds a little negative camber . Robo 2nd Gear October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 go for tein or d2 if u have the cash to spare.. but since u dont drive hard den just change springs will do.that is if u r not keeping ur ride more than 5yrs.
Emils 2nd Gear October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 Side track a bit. Did installing coilover affected your car's ability to go over speed humps?

Anakusop Clutched October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 (edited) speed humps as in the carpark humps? or speed strips?? if carpark humps..... i need to go real slow if the hump is damn high.... sometimes the front bodykit does scrape the hump but since its underneath cannot be seen clearly... if u talking about strips den the car juz feel like u are riding a horse... hahahar abit exagerating lar but feels something like dat..... hope i answered ur question..... Anakusop Clutched October 3, 2008 Share October 3, 2008 yes full load... with each passenger weighing an average of 60-65... u can see the diff between u driving alone n full load of course... but it wont kena the fender.... going over hump oso no probelm if go slow.... but parking must let the passengers down first.... n u can definitely differentiate a wish dat is on stock suspension or on coilovers... stock suspension with full load confirm will sink down like nobody business like dat... Emils 2nd Gear October 4, 2008 Share October 4, 2008 Yep, it does answer my question. Thanks! In this case, I think I will give the coilover a miss. Otherwise, I will be relegated to being a 'gu niang' every time I meet with a hump...
Roh96 6th Gear October 4, 2008 Author Share October 4, 2008 I intend to keep my ride > 5 yrs. I tried lowering springs with stock shock before in my previous Jazz and i realised that the back was lower than the front ie. 2 and 3 fingers gap respectively. I heard this is common for lowering spring and it will sink lower over time and when carry full load will kenna humps etc.
Anakusop Clutched October 4, 2008 Share October 4, 2008 hahhaar can still be on coilover bro.... juz don lower the ride till sweep the floor lar bro.... but must see if u wan it as a cosmetic enhancement or performance wise..... u can see the other bros suggestions if not keen on coilovers oso..... Roh96 6th Gear October 4, 2008 Author Share October 4, 2008 I saw quite a number of streams on road with lower suspension and with 17" or 18" rims. Look really nice. Not sure if carry full load will cause undercarriage to hit humps. ↡ Advertisement
