Hi, posting on behalf of my friend, she understands the stock market and is really keen to trade in the NYSE. But she is not sure which local trading firm is better in terms of charges and reliability.

Sorry, i not keen on trading so if what i type here does not make sense, kindly advise. Thanks [sweatdrop]

becos this is a forum which i always frequent and like to frequent? And i guess there are more decent people here who can give decent advise, unlike other forums where pple jus tcss to a thread? Am i in the wrong to try helping my friend ask a question in the Lite & EZ section? Kindly advise which section to post it or an appropriate forum to ask it. Thanks [:)]

POEMS is better in terms of charges, but reliability-wise may lose out. Trading in US market is easy online ... just need to fill up the necessary form when signing up for the trading account. [flowerface]

Is she going to trade herself or thru a broker?

If it's the former, then it depends on how much capital she is willing to start off with.

For a start, there's CMC Markets, Philips Securities, IG Markets etc

Each have different minimal start up funding, comm charges, financing charges, pros and cons etc.

So get ur friend to do her own research as well.

you would be better off asking in a proper trading forum where you can get more detail answers

Haha.

I would be if i know which is a proper trading forum to ask in.

Thank you for stating the obvious. Like i said just trying to help a fellow friend as I frequent this forum.

And I'm glad I asked here as I do get some decent answers.

Thanks all who gave me decent advices. I've already told my friend to go check out the above mentioned companies.

google is your best friend if you are looking for answers to some questions.

Instead of posting and waiting to be spoonfed

FYI, I posted in the Lite & EZ section where off-topic threads are to be posted.

At least by posting here, i can still ask some questions through PM to find out more from those who posted here. And these friendly, easy-going people are willing to reply me and answer my queries without making any snide remarks.

Yes, this is a car forum where car enthusiasts converge like what the top of the page says. But car enthusiasts will have questions about other things other than just cars.

Why else would the moderators add a Lite & EZ section in a car forum?

It is for the convenience of those who frequent and like this forum to once in awhile ask questions unrelated to car.

Maybe if you think that only car related stuff should be asked in this forum, you can highlight my thread to the moderator.

Instead of posting and waiting to be spoonfed

Lastly, if posting in a forum and waiting for answers meant waiting to be spoon fed like you quoted, than i believe you are a person who do not ask questions in forums? A person who is good at finding out answers on your own w/o posting any questions and waiting to be answered in a forum? Cos what u posted above actually infuriated a number of people i know when i showed them what you said. Maybe you only meant to say it me, but i believed i have never offended you or make snide remarks at you before in any of the other posts to make you so sensitive to my asking of a question unrelated to cars here.

Cheers! [;)]

P.S: I typed this long and naggy reply in a relax and happy-go-lucky mood, no intention of starting any war of words or squabbles. [thumbsup]

*Moderator, this thread has served its purpose. Feel free to lock or delete it[scholar]. Many thanks to those helpful replies.
