AS a leader of a nation, the way he talk n do will reflect on SG. He shld at least say some "politically correct ans", certain things can be said n certain things cannot.

On personal note, I can understand that he is aware and very concern on the economics esp during this period of time. This seems to be in his mind as the top priority and all he needs is yeah to add the adrenalin that he and the whole SG folks experiencing. [;)]

There isn't anything wrong for him to talk abt exposure for SG, but to completely exclude comments abt the excitement of the race itself just only give the F1 organisers and foreigners impression we are only interested in benefits for the country and there is no passion in the race watsoever...on one hand it maybe good to be 100% frank and upfront of what you really feel, but on the otherhand you have to excercise political correctness in wat you say and do in front of media to the world wide audience...just imagine the millions of views worldwide watched it and gets the impression the F1 is no big deal to SG and we only want it for advertisement sake? All along I knew this was what they wanted when they brought in the F1, but I think it is at least expected of them to be a wee bit more politically correct.

i didn't see/hear the entire interview so i don't know if the PM did or didn't praise the wonderful efforts in organising the F1 at all throughout that interview or at other interviews....

but my reply was just to state that the PM had good vision in his view abt the F1... while most people were wowing oohing at the F1 cars, the PM was looking out for whether the TV coverage had sufficient exposure for s'pore... that's thumbsup.gif

That would be very "fake". I think what he said is true and he's frank about it. It's anyway win-win for SG and for F1. For F1 they will get plenty of sponsors, for SG plenty of exposure, businessman do business overseas also easy.

that is not fake cos lots of stakes involved, from PM perspective, he wants the country to shine for others to see so as to attract foreign investments eventually improve the economy however from the business perspectives, if country leaders dun appreciate then what is the pt of bringing the businesses to spore, and then in the end receive comments "...not watching the cars, but watching the skyline...", he probably has regretted what he had mentioned though his intention is good...time after time, his speeches and comments are.........

so when the IRs open next yr onwards and YOG in 2010, so r we going to hear similar comments from PM again "....not concern in the gaming and sports but watching the skyline"

we all do know the intention of our leaders but.....even my wife who is in the PR industry felt that the comments should be made in a better way....

after all the main political figure of the country and his take on the F1 race is simply a reflection of his concerns more for the country in general than the race issit. Welll the PM can go on to exclaim how exciting the race was, how shiok it was to see n hear the cars zoom past, but issn't that what every laymen is gonna say?

I fully agree with u.

Its not the position of a leader of the country to say he was there to enjoy the race.

Even though if he was really enjoying the race, there are more important things to take care of.

Indeed there were many beautiful pictures of F1 cars racing by and those building that we went by almost everyday in the background. Its truly was something we dun see everyday.

Especially the picture where a heli took a shot from bird's eye view on the racing track wif Benjamin Shear's bridge on top wif some cars going by. It really took a short breathe out of mi. For those who was there personally missed it. [;)]

...F1 teams and organiser should boycott spore next yr since PM is not appreciate of the effort and the sport....

This is not a good thing to say bro.

F1 will not boycott sg becoz it has signed a 5 years contract. Sad? Maybe for u...

And the again...F1 been wanting to come to this region for very long time. Had sg to begin wif such a bang, I dun think they wil boycott. U win I win...thats about it.
