hi. just wanna ask. =]

 

how much does it cost to advertise on an F1 car ?

i thought i read it somewhere on the newspaper, but i cant find it.

 

and how much does an F1 car cost?

 

and i dont understand about the pit lane being close when the safety car is out.

 

and does any driver got fined yesterday?

Advertise on an F1 car - depending on which team, and whether you are the title sponsor or not. Range from US$5mil to US$50 mil.

 

F1 car cost - as much as US$100mil+

 

Pit lane rule when SC is out.... its a new rule just implemented this year (maybe also last year)... stupid rule. The purpose is to prevent all the cars going into the pit at the same time when SC is out, to avoid getting stucked... by pitting during safety car, you can save time lost for your regular pit stop for fuel and tyres, because when you pit during SC, there's a chance you can still come out, and catchup with the SC and lost little time. So, FIA impose this rule to prevent teams from using this to their advantage.... but remember what happened in Canada when the pit lane is closed and Kubica and Raikkonen waiting at the red light in front of the pit lane, only for Hamilton to crash into Kimi. If they stayed behind the SC, they would have run out of fuel and out of the race... that's why Kubica and Rosberg opt to pit and suffer the stupid 10 sec penalty.

Without this rule, i think Massa would not have suffered that much...

 

i dont think anybody was fined yesterday,.. but i think there is one pending for Rubino for littering.... [;)]

those spore F1 crew are all volunters just like you and me .All inexperience and most have a mentality that ' wow , can go watch free F1' therefore they need to be either push or kick at before they know what to do ....

not all the F1 crew are volunteers, the important jobs are hired professionals.

 

except the stewards, which is a common complaint and probably set to change in future.

Miles, i think he meant d run-off area.

 

Run-off area is d extended part of d track which allows a race ka that miss a corner to turn back.

 

By d way, i think d rule says that max 7 gears + reverse gear.

i think the place where piquet crashed was not possible to let the crane haul it. that section was where the spectators were. there was no room for the crane

in all fairness, (ok i'm one of them) we are not there for the free F1... In fact, we have many volunteers from all walks of life and even from other countries (italy, france, etc). We are there, to make IT happen and to be part of this inaugural event in a more involving way than just being spectators (eg: my team had an expat regional legal counsel who sure can afford the tics)~

 

As this is the first time we are hosting F1, the whole lot of us have no actual experience at all. Hey everyone has to start from somewhere right? We have received training from our volunteer counterparts from Australia (CAMS) and they have guided us in many ways but no training is close to the real thing when incidents happen. In 3 yrs time, the Singapore volunteers will be able to take over the entire operations of running a F1 race fully without any assistance from CAMS volunteers~

 

Sure there are many rooms for improvement, but give us a chance as we are still new to this and we will certainly improve in 2009 and the coming races.

 

btw as for the recovery of damaged vehicle, due to our street circuit layout, those long cranes you see in other races are not used here. We only have those mini-sized mobile cranes which you see on TV.

 

 

 

So, pls do applaud the 900+ volunteers who have greatly gave up our personal time (we have been training since July 2008) and sweat (try strapping up the overalls on a 3pm hot blazing afternoon) to make the first Singapore GP a success [bounce2]~ Even the ushers ($4 per hour) and security staff ($100) are paid, while we get no monetary benefits in anyway.

 

For me personally, when I look at the sight and smiles of the local and overseas visitors who give us the thumbs-up for the event, that is certainly the 'payment' which we, the volunteers, have earned and looking forward to !!!

 

Pls do give us that appreciation, as volunteers are part of the success equation too and we will certainly improve !!

1.this should be the design of the circuit.it has got nothing to do with against traffic flow or not.

if you had looked clearly,some parts of the circuit are not against the traffic flow.

 

2.because they will lost weight after about 2 hour of racing due to loss of water as they are ebing wrapped up in their suit which is very hot.

 

3.that act as an rpm to remind them to shift gears.

 

4.i think don't have.they can do a very sweet u-turn easily.

 

The F1 cars do have a reverse gear. It is a "R" button on the steering wheel.

Give the organiser a break....for a first time, I think they have done very well. Off course there are still room for improvements.

 

For the recovery of accident cars, I believe this is a new track and now nobody knows where are the "accident prone areas". I believe 2009 they would do better....both for the organiser and the drivers.

 

Lastly...I suspect they race against traffic flow for fear that some road hero would take their ride to try the F1 circuit....for the benefit of the whole Singapore....pls if you have the though....pls erase it now !! Dun wan to give the gov a chance to write off motorsports again.

 

Lastly....for the organiser....give yourself a pat on the back for a spectacular piece of show !!

 

As I suspected....the backdrop is stunning !! (PS...next year maybe they can coordinate with the Shenton Way office to switch on all their lights to create a even more stunning backdrop !!!)

Its to confirm that they conform to the min weight requirement. Make sure they dun cheat by using a lighter car to win the race. The cars are parked there for the official to go thru the car to make sure that everything is in order. If found to be below the stipulated weight, their win will be stripped.

 

3) That is the rev meter; you don't want to over-rev and blow the engine. Not good in a million dollar car.

 

Not that they care....every 2 race they will change the engine and car. If FIA allows....they will even change engine / car every race !!

 

4) No reverse gear; most of the time they depend on their superior torque and lack of traction to do "burnouts" to get them to face the correct direction.

 

They got reverse gear. Its activated via a button on the steering wheel. They flick the car around cos its faster than to do a 3 point turn but burnout is a no no during race. Its for showboating after race. Cos burn out will cause the tires to wear out unevenly.

I am also having the initial impression that respond was not as prompt but as a matter of fact, street circuit is always more difficult in such situation [:/] , and yes everyone need to start from somewhere [nod] .

 

I enjoyed the race event, and am aware that without people like yourself whom put in so much personal effort, the event would not be as smooth...well done!

I think u oni got number 3 right but sounds so convincing :P hahaha
