Gearoil 1st Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 Definitely NOT SAFE!...someone 'on the take' or just being complacent as the 'supposed competent authority' is to ensure that the job is properly done? I think is the latter!
Silhoutte Clutched September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 From the pictures, they don't look like the base is very stable... They should place the rods deeper in the ground.
Corgan Neutral Newbie September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 its seems like that the contractors did not anchor the bollards properly to the ground. More like just put there and pour concrete around it. the burning question however is how the bus stop ended up in that condition?
Doosan 1st Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 bro, u r right. they bagai those plastic tube/pipe similar 2wat u c in ground floor of flat where h2o cud be guided n flow 2drains. then they do a triagle metal ring of 4/5mm welded like cone shape wit sharp bottom end facing downward where they wanted to be erected/build. then pour cement--at the same time keep it straight upright 2 prevent benkok2. if a bigger but lean against it,chances tat strong-looking ting may also benkok......i hv seen tis built infront of few barriers jz beside the digital barrier cntrol panel in my working place. N00b 4th Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 not safe..shld b planted deeper...but are the bollards there to reduce impact or stop the vehicle right at the point?
Lacy Neutral Newbie September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 So dangerous. Where is this bus stop located? It looks like Loyang area.
Kklim Supercharged September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 Some of these were put up at a back lane near Jln Leban to stop vehicles from parking there. Last I saw, they had all toppled over and been pushed aside. And, yes, pickups and trucks now get to park in the backlane. Just need to reverse a truck into them and they fall over. Qpik Supercharged September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 raw materials upz so must cut costs ?? .... gee...at least pple know the such things happen in spore. pple hv the right intention but things nvr ended up as planned as bottomline still count. btw, even if this bollock is secured firm to the grounds, can the height of it reduce the impact? i did came across an article that for it to be effective it has to be of a certain height. the bollocks that they used to make; concrete, big round fat one was so stable that i've seen pple even manage to squat on it. So_nice 6th Gear September 23, 2008 Author Share September 23, 2008 yawnz. all the road taxes, erps and bus fares being paid are used to built such sub standard stuffs.
Typhoonz 4th Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 Wah... So fragile one ah? Or perhaps the impact is very great? I mean these bollards can only withstand so much impact right?
So_nice 6th Gear September 23, 2008 Author Share September 23, 2008 i remember one accident pic yrs back where a wrx slammed itself into such bollards at dunno kallang or where's bus stop. the bollards did not gif way instead the rex wrapped it's side against it. but looking at how connection point was at the pics above, i cant help but think its merely some shabby work at best. dun u feel the same? Leepee 1st Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 Shows that someone is cutting corners. How about the construction of flats/condos. With the rise in raw material, if contractors were to cut-cost in buildings like the bollards, then the consequences could be worst!
Typhoonz 4th Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 Yeah... It's sure looks "disconnected" even when it's not knocked over... Maybe LTA might "revise" the constructing methods of such safety devices?
Zcold 2nd Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 (edited) waaa... even the trees were uprooted... impact muz have been big! tink tree stronger than bollards lei... if tree down bollards sure down... but i'm surprised not to see any steel rods inside the concrete... This is NOT an acceptable excuse ..O.K..Ms Tiger..the specs of the bollards are drawn and supposed to undergo 'tests' to ensure their viability! If ppl who are supposed to ensure ..DON'T ensure...where do you draw the line on all other issues where a standard is required to be attained before it can be approved as such? I say ...fire those buggers who are lax and were complacent in their job!
Apollo 1st Gear September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 no cut corner lah... this one is concrete ball.. drill one hole in the ball and one on the floor. put short metal rod inside and then use superduper gum to stick it down. annie whye, this is not the proper road barrier lah.. the proper one is design to bounce back the car into the road. ↡ Advertisement
