Ccssgm 1st Gear September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 Drivers have been raising a ruckus about the hazardous driving conditions created by the F1 safety barriers in Marina Centre and Suntec City, especially at Raffles Boulevard. Preparations for the F1 race next week have resulted in two rows of barriers and fences - 4.2 metres high - sprouting up from both sides of Raffles Boulevard. These barriers, drivers say, inevitably create blind spots and make driving in the area more dangerous. Raffles Boulevard is part of the F1 street circuit. On the other hand, it is also a key thoroughfare for motorists who work in the Marina-Suntec area. One driver actually told my paper, "Regardless of whether I am turning into Raffles Boulevard from a sideroad or exiting into a sideroad from Raffles Boulevard, my vision is always obstructed by the 4.2 metre barrier. This makes it impossible to see oncoming cars. [nod] Mr Zhan Zhi Wei, a 29-year-old office worker at Millenia Tower, said that the situation gets more dangerous after the peak hour rush is over. By the time he can knock off at 8 pm or 9 pm, cars go much faster since there are no jams. "This makes it more dangerous for me. When I come out of the carpark, the safety barriers actually create a blind spot - I cannot see the oncoming cars. Another driver told my paper, "The traffic situation is pretty hairy during peak hours too - when there are jams everywhere and you can't see a thing." "It is a miracle that there has been no accident so far." ↡ Advertisement
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 Usual KPKB. It's the same for all city tracks. Of course, we should had built our own track in the first place...
Autobahn Clutched September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 Agree.... track will be much better. They should have built the Changi track capable of hosting F1 instead.

Jonbummer Neutral Newbie September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 quite a concern for road tax payer to be honest.... just last nite i was there for makan, i had to turn into the millennium walk car park by Memory cos there's no way to see the entry path.. and exiting, it's really going to be slow and steady as there is no way to see oncoming traffic till late late guess this is the 'price' we have to pay.... for the next few years! Showtime Neutral Newbie September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 Agree.... track will be much better. They should have built the Changi track capable of hosting F1 instead. i think that a street circuit has more character than a track. brings out the essence of the country/city thats hosting the race. Snowbell Neutral Newbie September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 It was my first time driving to marina square carpark on wed and i couldn't see the entrance, blocked by the barrier, I had to slow down and the car behind horned then because I had to cut his lane on the right just as I spotted the carpark entrance. Sorry whoever that was.
Mnphosis 1st Gear September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 you again! always got some funny stunts which makes others horn or fed up with you honestly, if it was me, and that's me only, i will note it, go one round and then get in lane and enter. save that few minutes create accident even worse. you work in high high building very educated, must think carefully. do not create an obstruction and go one round if necessary. not very far what. accident then you happy ah? Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear September 19, 2008 Share September 19, 2008 Like I said, it's the same for other F1 city tracks. In fact, the widest of Monaco's city track is narrower than S'pore's narrowest part of the track.
